Finally managed to get a mint one. Did 200 miles first ride on it. Found it much better than the OE seat. I still got a sore backside towards the end but nowhere near as much as the OE seat and after a much longer time. Did 2 100 mile stints unbroken which I’d have found really uncomfortable on the OE. Very pleased. It’s not a complete panacea but it’s a massive improvement. Hope this helps someone even if this all is subejective.
Good to hear that it was a significant improvement over the original, not that hard TBH You might find that experimenting with clothing and undergarments might help too. The Touratech seat is surprisingly firm on first impression. It's the shape/profile as well as the cover that make a lot of the difference.
I tried Skivees, https://motoskiveez.com/, which weren’t cheap and actually felt no different to an ordinary pair of cycling shorts. I’ve used a Wild Ass cushion for several years and discovered when the air sack failed, just the thin layer of gel the seat uses actually worked very well on its own. Plan is to put a gel cushion in the seat cover. Andy
Yes Bumpkin absolutely. The OE is classic showroom seat. Great in the showroom or for first 30 mins of a ride. I got one with my Daytona 675r years ago and it was solid and my first thought was it was going to be brutal. It was superb. Did 500 miles on it. Sports bike with the right seat is actually more comfortable than AdV bikes in some ways as the weight is spread onto your wrists more so less on your behind. Like a road racing bicycle. Ergonomic triangle. Yes got the skivees, android. They’re better than nothing but over priced crap tbh. Some proper gel cycle shorts will be better I think. The main fix to saddle sore is stopping and resting. If you go too far then the damage is done and you can’t repair it. Stop regularly is the only way that works for me otherwise it’s an endurance event for me!
