Damn you @bradders I've only gone and looked at the regulations haven't I, this is going to have to happen now. I've got to get the road bike finished first though or swmbo would murder me...
well I know of one peirbon which will be joinig that grid already, along with a m1100 converted special..and I'll be around the paddock racing with the Big boys
I'm mucking about with my 900SS getting plenty of weight out of it and will get the motor tweaked at some point but would love to get hold of a DS1000 or an 1100 Evo lump to play with and Ideally put it in a TT2 frame with minimal fairings... I noticed A Multistrada sold for £1400 on ebay yesterday, you could use the Engine, injectors & ECU for a project and break the rest and net, it would cost well under a grand... Hmm...
Starting with a complete 1000 or 1100 DS bike and just taking off everything you didn't need may even be a better start than a 900ss. You'd just have to play with the rear shock height / drop the triples to balance turning with stability and you'd be off! I imagine the frames are a better starting point than our venerable 1980's tech ss frames Might end up looking like this! I think the photo is from one of the Ducati track days this year... You guys probably know the bike already!
And whilst the bike above uses a wide swing arm pivot engine case and swingarm (14cm V's 17cm), everything else more or less fits together. Lots of info out there for what fits with what with the swingarm mount being the key issue, just search "900 ss engine swap" bikeboy engine comparability" "2v aircooled superbike" etc... Yes I've done my research already
749/99 with dead engine frame wheels and swinger, 1000ds motor, , bit of spanner twiddling and bob's your what not!
