Seven of us todate booked to go too Almeria in September with Focused Events, we have been there seven times in the last four years, great event, great Hotel in Mojacar, and well run. Never had a problem with any European event run by Focused Events, and we have been on quite a few, Portimao, Jerez, Motorland, Cartegena, Brno. Don't worry about your pace, you will be fine, and I think you will find it far more relaxed than your usual UK trackday, must be the weather, I feel I can just keep going and I am into my fifties also. Almeria is a great little track I don't think you would be disapointed if you did book, we go back every year and so do a lot of guys, that's got to say something.
