Track Days

  1. Undecided if I should try and get a refund now.

  2. You'll be fine. I'd rather they wasn't there only because i couldn't believe the amount of oil spillage's i kept seeing on the floor. You still get just as much track time.

  3. Sounds a hoot, 20 mins on bike, 20 mins in the race van, 20 mins rest. Repeat 6 times.

  4. I have done 1 car/bike track day before and never ever again.

  5. Interesting to note, car static noise test 105db, bike 102db

  6. Llandow isn't a kart track, there is a kart track on the same site, but the one you'll be using is a MSA approved sprint circuit. It's still pretty small, but you'll get loads of track time and it's a dead friendly little place to go and ride your bike round.

  7. Oh and to actually contribute to the thread...I've got Castle Combe booked in April, I have a Ron Haslam day to use up at some point and I'm undecided whether to do the Silverstone Ducati day on my Panigale!

  8. Now booked on for Anglesey for next sunday! at £65 its a bargain!

  9. I would be there if it wasn't a 5 hour drive [emoji26]

  10. Ouch! Would cost you more in fuel then the actual day. Not so bad for me, around an hours drive

  11. I'm booked with a few others on this, look for the garage with a 748, 848 & 899 Superlegover in it :upyeah:

  12. Do it!!!!:grin::tearsofjoy:

  13. I'm doing Anglesey on my ZX10R April 15th and will try and do Ducati Silverstone day in June on the 1198 other than those I'm going to try and get on good few I this year as have missed out last couple of years .

  15. I've booked march days today
    15/3 Oulton Park
    24/3 Donnington
I rent a bike though as both tracks are circa 3hrs from me and don't fancy the ride there/back
Will use my Ducati at Silverstone in April as that's pretty close to me

  16. You should get yourself a trailer. I have a Motolug collapsible trailer and it's bloody brilliant...

  17. I've been looking at trailers recently, and that one was one of the shortlisted ones
Ultimately, I'm not that keen on taking my road bike on the track that much, so I'll probably just look for a cheapo track back to use for that, and keep my 899 for the road

  18. Yep, good option. I've got my GSXR for track work and it's great having a dedicated bike that you're not afraid of thrashing on track. Other than the Ducati only days I don't think I'd take my Panigale on track for fear of wrecking it.

  19. Exactly that. If I crash my Ducati, that's £10k or thereabouts down the toilet, whereas I can get a pretty decent track bike for £5k, and it'll be lighter and probably be quicker than my Ducati.
I've been hiring in a track spec GSXR600 through Smallboy, and that's been perfect. They turn up with everything for it, including warmers, slicks, road tyres or wets, and you just hand it back to the guy after every session, and he checks it over and has it running and ready for the next session.
The next dilemma is to whether to buy a bike that's already a track bike, and risk it being mechanically knackered, or to look for a reasonably priced cat D bike that's only probably done road miles, and convert it to a track bike myself..
