Used to race desmo due, little 50hp thing, then a 64hp monster til I smahed it, and me, up. Got some cups from cadwell
But power/weight always disadvantaged so bought a k5 1000 as I didnt want to run and 848 or 1098 as I am not certain they wont need lots of maintenance. Not raced it yet but next year now is the plan, some endurance maybe
Yep a fair bit of maintenance req'd !! I would guess any of the litre bikes are quick enough for track days, But I can imagine there's always a good few new well spec'd (bm's zx10's) turn up at club races. Even up at Knockhill in the superbike/clubman race the top 10 bikes are fairly high spec.
There are £80k plus genuine BSB and WSBK ones turn up at club meets all the time. This old K5 tho keeps up with most beemers etc in a straight line in the fast group ok, not bad for 150hp @andyb But I know when I race it against 200 plus fast guys it will be blown away.
At the moderm superbikes with hottrax, I think there are a couple of yzf and zxr's that were BSB or at least same spec
I'd be very disappointed if I was turning up at a club meet (with an ex-bsb) bike or similar spec and not winning everything !
You could give me tom sykes bike, and I wouldnt even get close to Crowe until he lapped me. Its not what you have, its what you can do. And if you are doing that with others that can, then its what you have Reading FB his beemer is 210hp region spec
Btw hottrax club meets, Hudson Kennaugh raced there yesterday. As do many other BSB level riders...its amazing who turns up to these grass routes events and pisses on everyone else..
