I would recommend using 3mm carbon sheet, I used 2mm and really has to much flex with the amount of cut outs I have. That said it does take a good amount of vibration out due to this. I did a fair amount of research regarding vibration mounts/what I would use to space the two bits of carbon apart. Eventually made some out of ti we had kicking around at work, the vibration rubbers on the back of the dash are sufficient enough. The wiring is a doodle. I personally didn't bother with a new loom, just used the existing as know I will never use the old clocks again.

I also fitted "anti-vibration washers" ie, rubber washers, between the carbon and the dash when mounting it to also help dampen some of the vibrations out. These were 99p for about 50 from Maplins, so if you want some PM me your address and I'll stick a handful in the post for you!
