Why didn't he just ride the bike? I bet the bike was dirtier when he got home than if he had ridden it.

Sod having the bike on display for the thieving scum to follow you then come nick it later, also anyone with a van putting bike related stickers on it thinking it looks cool....just turning it into a target.
