749 Tricolore Scheme, Your Opinion Counts

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by andyt749, Mar 4, 2016.

  1. I reckon that's the way I go, I want the original style fairings, I now need to let the wife know that......... Uummmmm

  2. Looks a bit shell suit too me, too Japanese, a bit 80's, a bit Wham, trying a bit too hard. Its a Ducati...they are sheer beauty alone and admired by many non-Ducati riders, graphics masks the flows & contours. Less is more in my opinion only though.

Not sure about the paint scheme, but it depends on who does the work and how well it's executed, that often makes the difference between a good paint job and a poor one. Personally I don't mind this design on the 999, though I might have changed the colours, so as not to appear too similar to the 1199 Tricolore.

  4. I'm inclined to agree with Chris...I think the 749/999 looks best in a solid colour, be it red yellow or whatever ,white nose and tail number boards are OK though and there's nothing wrong with after market fairings, but at the end of the day it's whatever floats your boat.

  5. IMG_0002 (2).JPG Well the vinyl are ordered, and here are the seats fitted ready to go, the decal specialist customised the graphics so were gonna have a minimalized version, after looking at your replies and one of the picks of a full blown tricoloured I thinks it!ll end up a beauty!!!!!!!! 6. Cool, bet you can't wait......

Have you put on vinyl before? I did the front board on my 996 a few weeks backs, 5 minutes job I thought, nope.

  7. Funny that, I spent a whole night looking at YouTube help guides by professionals then a whole load by us like minded enthusiasts.... I have decided that I need to tell the wife these must be fitted professionally now I am youtubing ways to tell the wife!!!!!!!!!
Look up Moto GP Ricambi his customer service was superb and every request to alter the decals was met by "yes I can arrange that" he told me that the design team need time to size and cut the graphics and that it would not be a 5 day turnaround, honesty from the start, I strongly recommend looking at this site and I will show the finished product when done, he does a lot of kits but the great bit is he cuts all the designs to the bike you want it for, he has customer bike gallery for the quality and its good...... maybe someone on here has used him before?

  9. You know what, I loved the Panigale Tricolore colour scheme so much I just had to have one.
I fought it for some time but in the end I had to give in. I much prefer it to previous Tricolore schemes.

I have to say tho, it looks really 'busy' on the 749.

The 999's and 749's are beautiful bikes. I love the headlights, the air intakes.

I think this Tricolore scheme gets too busy around these parts. It's not so much the side panels.
Personally I'd start with the Tricolore scheme and simplify if I were you. Let the machines lines breath.

It's your bike, you must do as you please. If like me you just have to have it then that's the way to go.
You asked for opinions and this is mine.

Simplify it. It will look even better.

Basically that's what I did with my seat. I followed the lines of the bike and to me it looks even better.

Have you committed yet? A friend of mine does vinyl, he may be able to help.
Good luck with it and I'd like to see the results.

  10. Hi there,
Yes I've have committed already(always someone to help after pressing buy it now button ehh!), and your thoughts were exactly mine, I had the supplier customise it a little, he was so easy to work with considering it was email and CGI pics, I did go more suttle on the nose cone as well as reducing the big slab of white on the side panels, the tail section stripes will also follow my newly fitted seat covers! I think for me it'll come out perfect, same as all opinions I guess, Marmite time between friends!!!! Can wait for it to be done

  11. Post up pics when it's done. Love to see em.

Also, try peeling off the standard seat covering then put the Saxon Seat cover back on. Much more comfy
than 2 layers of covering. Maybe even put 25mm thick memory foam in....you'll thank me for that one.
Well, your Arse will and I'm not sure I want that kind of thanks.
