Trolls

  1. "the best thing about the internet is that you can quote something and invent a fictitious source" - admiral lord nelson

  2. deffo allegedly

  3. This appeal case is about certain shortcomings in the traditional process for assessing damages in civil jury trials, under the law of Scotland. Some adjustments to that process were made by this judgment. It does not seem to have anything whatever to do with internet trolling.

  4. Good point. It is of course already illegal, and always has been, to threaten to murder someone, or to threaten to do them serious harm. Doing so online is just as illegal as by telephone, in writing, or in person. The police have been remarkably supine about catching people who commit such offences.

As usual, the current Home Secretary is not interested in using existing laws more effectively to protect citizens from wrongdoers; she only wants to make grandstanding announcements about introducing new and more draconian laws, which she thinks will go down well with her audiences.

  5. @Pete1950 no it's not. but i do believe it's a haulage company in a court case regarding a road incident. that my or may not of been commented on a social media site. allegedly.
what is factually correct with no "allegedly" required is the fella that was driving the truck was and is a regular customer of mine.(decent bloke) though he is not the one being pursued by the company in question.

  7. Much better thanks :upyeah:

  8. And this is what's wrong with the world today...
A bloke from Paington who killed a 19 year-old motorcyclist whilst driving an uninsured, unroadworthy car has just been give a 6 month suspended sentence - and yet the new proposal is that just for being mean to someone on-line you could go to prison for two years? Anyone else thing that there is a slight imbalance here somewhere ?

  9. You're confusing the maximum sentence permitted by law for an offence with the actual sentence given to a particular offender. Actual sentences are nearly always below the maximum, and often far below.

Strangely, politicians and journalists are obsessed with maximum sentences, to the extent of being unaware of typical real sentences.

  10. To be honest Pete - yes, I am aware of that and was merely pointing out the inequities of the legal system. I don't suppose anyone will actually get a two year sentence for being a "troll"...
Be careful not to say anything about the McCanns though - look what happened to the last woman who slagged them off...

  11. She died of shame when her online "antics" were shown to the world?

  12. Fortunately there are no trolls on here. I used to frequent another forum and there were people on there who just wanted to slag everyone off and get angry at any off the cuff remark. Literally taking umbridge at everybody and anything. I dont go there anymore. People on here are much more civilised. You can take the mickey without too much fall out. If any. So hats off to you lot you bunch of halfwit numpties.

  16. When you say "under the bridge", do you mean in the spaces, or in the supports?
