we are just going for the overall look than a spacific year as you would never get it spot on without a big budget...campag wheels £2000+ Marzocchi magnesium forks £2000+ dry clutch kit £2000+ i have looked at loads of pics and every bike is slightly diffrent it will be as close as we can get.
You must need specsavers Pete. The tank is more TT2 than TT600 , the rear seat unit cuts off at the rear similar to the TT2 . In fact its probably a replica of the original. Good spot though for the site though .
had a bit more progress, the brakes are mounted and the frame bracing and subframe mods are done and the superlight alloy swingarm turned up so thats now fitted.
todays crazy plan is to mod the rear cylinder head to swap the inlet for the exhaust port,we removed the valve seats from a spare head and came to the conclusion its possible, also bigger valves from 620ie heads.
I love your optimism! I'd be very interested to see if you can succeed where many others have failed. Even to the point of one company, Red Fox, who now machine rear heads from billet to solve this problem
€1,500 for the billet head is a bit salty. Worth a try, even just because someone says it can't be done.
i think the head can be done but its not a stright foward job, every problem we find a solution for it causes another problem further down the line, the shock mounting to the frame needs altering as the resovior is in the way of the carb, and the manifold is no good so we might need a cut and shut on a standard one,620ie or 600ss heads there is pros and cons for both...1500 is a bit keen for a head when the bike stands him to about £1000 to date.
It's not too bad when you think of the work. They'll also flow your front head to match, oh, and they only make heads for the 900 I'd love to see pictures of you're solution
your right nick 1500 isnt a bad price for the work but my mate only has a small budget...new manifold done for the rear cylinder just to be sure it will fit,its a bit tight for space but its ok,should get a start on the exhaust next week time permitting.
i have started bending the headders for the exhaust today, the porting on the rear cylinder head is nearly finished just got the welding to do and machine a recess for the exhaust gasket, just waiting for the new valves and guides so we can get the new seats fitted.
If the reverse head mod works, you could be recoup your expenses pretty quick if you offered it as a lower cost solution than the Red Fox head
things are a bit slow at the mo....had the usuall crap trying to get the ajusters un-seized in swingarm......solid it took me 1/2 hour on each one to snap then, plenty of heat....wd40....heat....bollox,no wonder they went to a steel arm the warranty bills must have been big back in the day....the gloves are off now.
Superb work on here, I think if you decided to make several similar bikes your order book would get full pretty quickly
