Tuneecu Android

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by chrisw, Mar 17, 2015.

  1. TuneECU will save the map against the loaded map ref. That can then be searched in the database. TuneECU is cheap and well worth buying.

  2. Bob T, are you sure it is a different Map that limits the power? My experience of importing bikes into France is that they need a "Kit Bridage" which limits the mechanical movement of the throttle and the Map is not changed. (See pic of a similar bracket....)

Maybe this is the same for the export market to France for most new +100HP bikes.

My old Daytona 675 had this bracket fitted to the throttle body for the French HP limit. although, before all that, whilst still at full power, I had the 675 map changed to suit a race can at Triumph (UK) and they also said they had a "French" map listed.

The Ducati 999 had the same style throttle limiting bracket for importation into France as did my mate's ST1050 Triumph.

It will be interesting to see if yours is a Map change.

    Cheers,
    DD

  3. Interesting! Now you have made me think. Perhaps I should go to the garage and start taking fairings off to see what I can see. Trouble is that I would not be sure what I was looking at. I had just assumed that the ECU would be the way that it was done. I looked at Ducati_Tune_list and noticed that there was a number there for an 848 EVO French version and that number was different to the UK or EU version, but then again all the numbers seem to be different as there are four 848 (non EVO) numbers, including a US one.

  4. Well Mr Dorset, (I was born in Dorset) it seems that you may be correct. I have just looked at the parts catalogue that I downloaded yesterday, and there seems that on page 68 there is are two items that might just be what you are talking about! Now to find them on the bike, I think they might be behind the right side fairing!
What a great forum this is!

  5. Looks like those parts are on the throttle bodies so you may need the tank and airbox off.

  6. The limit bracket for the 999 was inside the airbox on the throttle body, secured with "snap off / anti tamper" screws.... Not a quick cuppa, run out and take a Butcher's in your slippers type of job.

I am also still struggling to find the appropriate map, or Ducati ECU number etc, for a 2005 999 with Slip On Termi & front Link de-Cat Pipe. (I have managed to get hold of a "2nd Hand" unused "Gentleman's Set" of DP Silencer, Cover, ECU & Filters. I would like to check if the ECU is the one for my bike or not.... Should get them in the next few days...)

  7. A quick way to check is just to see how far around the throttle twists (ideally against another bike the same) as it will be quite noticeable... Or maybe someone on here can do a quick rotation measure to compare - if they have the same bike.
    Cheers,
    DD

  8. I'm back now. RH fairing off and the black bit below the seat on the LH side allowed me to see the bar that links the throttles. I can see no restriction and it seems to turn the butterflies about 90 degrees. I can't see from the parts catalogue where that bracket fits, but it is nowhere to be seen from the outside of the throttle bodies.
Trouble with trying to check a bike the same is that they will all be restricted over here and to be honest there are very few big Ducatis around here. When we had a short ride out today, probably no more than 80 miles, we had onlookers at every stop. In one case a Dutch family came over after we had parked up and asked if they could take photos of the 848!
Thanks for the help chaps, if any of you is down this way let me know and I'll happily share a bottle of red and show you the best places to see.

  9. No sweat.. Good luck.
(Which part of France are you in?)

  10. Dordogne. We have loads of bikers visiting us and have just said goodbye to a couple of Paddies and an Aussie on old BMW K100s. They camped at a local village. Before that there were three English in camper vans with bikes on trailers, they camped on my airfield (free). Then there were the Italians on BMW F800s who stayed in a local hotel.
Life is just one big ride out for us!
Have a look at Bob Thompson - YouTube if you want to come down.

  11. Yes bloody brilliant forum can't say thank you enough to Chris for his assistance although it turns out I was an idiot and it was user error not anything faulty

  12. Cupid,
Big Fingers - Small Keys..? (That is normally my problem!!)

Bob T - I know some folks with a Pegasus Quick over there - maybe you know them...? I will PM you so as not to wreck this TuneECU thread!

  13. Min
e was plugging it in wrong hole bloody connector looked exactly the same as diag plug

  14. Well I had a dabble and naturally it does not work.

I limit myself to 30 minutes per session on tech these days (Like a deep sea diver) in order to protect objects and people. Once I come out of decompression I shall try again and then cycle through the traditional 21st Century tech problem finding. Read instructions read again, google solution 1,2,3,4,5...switch it off switch it on again rinse repeat.. opps I am getting the bends...back to decompression

  15. What software what cables what bike ?

  16. TuneECU Android, OBD III + cable link and ST4s. Went for another dive. Loaded cable drivers (finally after getting zip loaded) Software partially works on Triumph Sprint ST 1050 now with some values being very sleepy (2 cylinders show third does not TPS sometimes shows) Will try on the Duke if I can get the thing to start

  17. If your ST4S uses the IAW59M ECU then TuneECU won't work. You need to use ScanM5.

  18. Thanks Chris, I need to double check

  19. OK Appologise to all, I have the wrong ECU (RTFI !!) It kind of works on the Triumph which is something. Is it correct that ScanM5 will only work with Blutooth adapter?

  20. Appears to be BT only. If you are going to buy a BT ELM327 avoid the v2.1 go for a v1.5
