Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, this bloke is a complete tool and when it comes to his capacity to review motorcycles, he's just a waste of fresh air. He simply doesn't grasp what the Ducati Panigale is about. If he's a typical BMW owner, then will the guys on this forum please put me out of my misery if I ever profess a desire to buy one !
Christ...... Just the title warrants not watching it. ducatis finest as a London commuter bike, of course it's gonna be a pain in the arse......... Stick it in its natural habitat then try slating it. Use the right tool for the job and all that
My choice is aesthetic based. My 1198 is no perfect handling bike either. It pushes the front and can feel a but laboured in slow corners. Especially the real twists in the alps. My 916 just goes round them no bother. But I am not really too bothered about the 'vague' feeling reported myself. I can't get to 60% of what a super bike can't do anyway. Thus its the aesthetics I care about the most. Oddly enough the 899 looks prettier to me. It must be the swing arm. Its the RHS i have an issue with mainly on 1199. The rear wheel looks detached. The lines don't follow. Ive gotten used to the side mounted shock now and its grown on me. The carbuncle under the seat is even worse than that breeze block heat shield that was on my 1198. But I am still not convinced by the blobby tank and the blobby bit of the side fairing. Of course this is all subjective. So really what are my alternatives? The S1000rr is ugly. But its fucking fast and my mate has one and twats me on the straights. The fecker. His QS is more refined too. But Its a bit clunky looking on the plastics. The Kwaker is cleaning up but the curves on that are ubiquitously japanese. The blade, now I like the sit up and beg fairing of this and it looks like a race bike. But its a Honda. Its the choice of the head. It'll do what it says on the tin. Quietly and efficiently. Well i like shouting. The GSXR well I've always loved big Suzi's. I had a big Kat. For years. I like design. That bike, even today is stunning. Target Designs designed an aesthetic hole in one. The RSV. Now thats butt ugly and I hated Biaggi. So fuk em. It does sound like an angry bastard shouting tho. MV F4 is pretty. very pretty. But its lost some of its older beauty. Especially round the exhausts and the slits on the fairing. I'm tempted here but I'm 48 and Ive weak wrists (no wank jokes). Both broken at the same time. Twice. Look after your hands kids okay. I do love a v twin though. I just like the lumpy torque. I prefer these engine characteristics. I don't know why. I just do. Plus the sound. I love the sound. This is all part of the subjective and aesthetic choice I make. I do like the pani from front and rear. Plus it would help if it started winning. They'll sell more because on the fence complainers like me would then say 'fuck it'. Whats it like in slow alpine hairpins?
The alternative is to get a good RC30. Ride and enjoy it, then when you sell it, it won't have lost half it's value.
Oh dear and only 48...... it's time isn't it.... here you are mate.... it's ok we won't look Harley-Davidson UK
Yup - its certainly provoking fierce debate. Probably the most entertaining thread ive read for a long time...
i dont know why, but i really like your user name..'comfysofa'....reminds me of the comfy chair in monty python i think...
Yeah - ironically came up with it while i was sitting on said comfysofa....really like that - the wife got rid of it....
Bloody wives get rid of everything. I had so many great t shirts that she dumped. Yeah so what if they were threadbare. I liked em. Plus my comfy moth eaten pillow. Unforgivable.
You lot of haters make me laugh... Come on has the thread died.. NO other forums for bikes has this kind of shit, bull shit green eyed monsters, I feel ashamed to own so many Ducatis when you read some of the BS comments. Anyway I'm off to my VIP seats at the MGP and will leave you lovers to keep sucking each other off, just tell your self I'm ok, I'm great, I ride a Duc and I'm better than anyone else...hahahahahahahahahahaha..
Back on topic, i watched some of Baron today on you tube. I actually find him quite entertaining. slightly eccentric and mad to put himself in the firing line but entertaining all the same. To be mad enough to green lane a GSXR and then post it on You Tube is slightly off the wall but he doesn't take himself that seriously and he does have a sense of humour. Baron your mad as feck but respect for posting it all and i was entertained.
I have enormous respect for him to come on here and fight his corner. My standpoint on the videos, however, remains the same.
I feel the same about Ducati ownership some of the comments on here are just stupid. Not to mention everyone i know with a panigale who rides it often agrees with him, in fact i was in Aylesbury with one of those very owners this weekend who has just gone looking at an 1100 Evo as he could not stand riding the panigale into town. As for the Baron, well it took guts and its never nice to hear that the bike's we spend so much time and money on are a bit of a pain in the arse but to be honest we know this deep down when we buy them. If you own a Panigale because of its road performance then your insane, if you own one because of how it looks, sounds and makes you feel then your in my club! Well done Baron, f**K these fools and keep it real and simple!
