Just changed from Michelin Road5 to Road6 ahead of last week's tour to the Harz region in Germany. The Road6s worked very well for me, felt better than the old tyres but it's difficult doing a comparison from worn to new tyres back-to-back. However, to my mind I prefer them. Rear has no chicken strips remaining. Just as confidence inspiring in the wet as the Road5 as well. Yes a bugger to get onto the rim, plenty of tyre soap required, the Road5s weren't that easy either. Mileage improvement, we'll see how that goes.
I got the Angel GT2's fitted today and did 89 miles with them on both wet and dry roads, first impressions, they have performed well giving plenty of grip in both conditions. I head of tomorrow on a 15 day bike trip so that will be a good test for them.
Metzeler M9RR’s. I run them on all my bikes and love ‘em. If you want mileage get the ‘Sportech’ not the ‘racetech’. I found them much more fun to ride than the Battlax on my Multistrada.
Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE on my V4. Just back from a week in Scotland , super all-round performance . Funny how everybody's happy with their choice. Perhaps the bike is good as well?
By way of an update on the Pirelli Angel GT2 tyres I had fitted for my European bike trip, short version, I was very disappointed! Bearing in mind the bike was fully loaded for the trip, panniers, top box and tank bag, but nothing heavy and certainly not overweight, but on about day 3 of the trip and after about 1500 miles I started to notice a big difference in the how the bike was handling, particularly on tight corners & sharp bends. It felt as if the tyres were too soft and didn't feel right. I did of course check the pressures which were fine in both tyres and continued to do so every morning. The next issue I experienced was on hard deceleration, the bike was very unstable. Most of the riding was on twisty A type roads but given that the Angel GT2s are recommended for touring, the quick drop in performance after only 1500 miles was surprising and as mentioned very disappointing, and over the remaining 2100 miles, there was no improvement. This was my first time using these tyres and my last. I have always used and loved the standard Scorpion Trail 2s and have done over 12K miles on them including 4 trips with no issues at all, so needless to say I'm binning the Angel GT2s and going back to my preferred tyres.
I went for the Batlax BT023 Gt’s in the end, seem to get good reviews Getting them fitted before the end of the week Thanks for the replies Steve
