Re: If the Scorpions had worn/lasted better then that would be my choice. Superb wet or dry (once warmed up) but 2k and gone off and 2.7k needed changing with strange front tyre wear on the sides not what I expect.[/QUOTE] Totally agree with you. I had the same strange wear pattern on the front. The tyre fitter accused me of having a favourite roundabout because the right side was so worn. That didn't explain the 'blocking' though.
Don't know how some of you guys are getting 5k plus out of your tyres, 2500k and my scorps are fucked, but then I guess if you keep within the speed limits you may do. Anyway just ordered some pr4s see how I get on with them and let you know, over to france the end of the month, up Scotland after that, Italy of course in july think I'll be needing a new set again by then :Greedy:
Original Scorps were toast at a similar mileage and started to 'go off' at 2,000 miles. They were illegal and the front had a strange wear pattern by the time i'd hit 2,600 miles. You'll find PR4s much better. My PR3s have done 6,000 with tread left. I had similar experiences over six years of Speed Triple ownership. The 3s and 4s are both dual compound, with more durable rubber down the middle and sticky stuff on the sides where it's needed. I'm led to believe that the 4s are harder down the centre, with no discernible loss of stickiness on the sides so may try them next time.
Yeah there's 3 different types of 4s, standard, GT's and trial ...take a look at the Mich website quite interesting.
