Personally if the tyres are good which so far they give no reason to doubt what does it matter where they are made? Have a look at where lots of things are made for instance Nike USA markets their brand as being USA but they are not made there. Ok if there was some sort of lesser material or something missing from the manufacture process then I'd agree. Do you think Chris Walker would use them if they were lacking in some way? Lol or maybe his tyres are bespoke for him they have a different manufacturing plant just for him lol
Interestingly most tire manufacturers have manufacturing plants in China, Dunlop for example comes under the parent company Sumitomo Rubber Industries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Do enough digging and you will be surprised at where many products that we all use and buy thinking they are european or USA made are actually from China and often other for what ever reason less desirable countries. I speak with first hand experience with guitars. I have guitars in my office that were made in China that would put Fender USA to shame and the same goes for Gibson, just because the person making something is oriental it doesn't mean bad things, granted if you ask them to make cheap they are the masters at that too but a persons skin colour and global location means jack shit. Jump in a plane do some research in person and then come tell.me what you found out lol
Pirelli have 22 manufacturing plants around the world, the chances that your olive skinned pasta eating Italian actually makes all of their motorbike tyres is just small minded and nieve. Its all marketing and brand strength they could be made in China and you wouldn't know because they wouldn't shout about it. If the product meets the specs that were laid out when designed does it matter?
In April 2012, Pirelli & C. SpA signed joint venture agreement with Indonesian counterpart PT Astra Autoparts a subsidiary of PT Astra International for the construction of a motorcycle tire plant with a total investment of $120 million. 60 percent shares will be held by Pirelli. Pirelli hoped to strengthen its presence in the largest motorcycle market in the world, the Southeast Asia region which has 250 million motorcycles.[35]
I think cheng shen also made my rubber front door mat..everytime time it rains and the mother in laws visits she goes guts up on it,i'm impressed. ps dave was based at wigram back in the early seventies,we were all riding kwaka triples thru the port hills on rock hard skinny dunlops, anythings gotta be better than that
Essentially there is vast difference between Chinese 'ling long' tyres than say for instance maxxis, dunlop and any other brand that has done it's r&d in its country of origin and then decided to produce the product in China, Turkey etc... a Dunlop is still a Dunlop if it made in Brum or China. Where its made is irrelevant. Buy the unknown cheap Chinese tyre and I would agree find out the hard way that they are not up to scratch. I just did literally 15 minutes of research that should leave any brand loyal customer who thinks their tyres were made in the USA or Europe with concerns because the world isn't black and white. Lol
Did you know, that the much-touted Apple fingerprint sensor was imagined in Florida, but manufactured in Asia by Taiwanese giant TMSC? How about the M7 motion co-processor? Did you know that it’s the brainchild of NXP, a company in the Netherlands, which has fabrication facilities in Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines? But I'm sure there are still saps out there that think Apple is made in the USA. We are spoon fed what the manufacturer wants you to believe in its marketing spin tyres are no different
Keep mentioning chris walker. If is wrong to think if they are good enough for a worldclass racer, who can tell the difference and know how to ride the limits of THAT rubber, never mind uses warmers and wets when its wet, they are good enough for an average rider Its right to get your feeling for how good/bad they are and take all sorts of opinions on them as exactly that: opinions
Defo opinions are just that and we are all entitled to them. I just think its quite comical how people take what they read on the tin for being what is inside without researching and understanding the facts at hand, cut some in half and their core would read Pirelli, its a funny old world lol
Well, that certainly got a reaction, your assumption that i think Maxxis are shit tyres is wrong by the way, I run them on my Toyota 4wd, have done for years, they're great! "Me thinks he doth protest too much"
And you could have said..'even so i really like them on my fourwheel drive' .....if you leave that bit out people will sometimes jump to conclusions,we all do it.It's not like we are standing face to face at a good party bullshitting about our bikes. This enviroment can be quite sterile unless you explain yourself better.Anyway, can you drift your 4 wheeler on the maxxis tyres rain hail or shine numbnuts?
Have you decided yet? Cheap enough to buy, fit and if you dont like in a thousand miles resell on ebay
Well it's been a while and I've managed to get almost 3K out of the rear of the Maxxis Supermaxx Sport, it's spun up a few times and I'm to the edge of the tyre all the time and not had a moment of trouble with either tyre to date. So it's back onto 2wheeljunkie for another! Happy Days! The mates I ride lets say 'enthusiastically' with on their ZX10's, RSV4, ZX12, ZZR1440, are all quick riders and I'm keeping with them through bends etc...they are all suitably impressed at my Maxxis to the point where a few are looking at getting them themselves over some of the more prestigious brands! Buy with your brain not your eyes and don't be led by marketing hype is my advice.
Glad they are ok. I was thinking about getting some of those tyres or some Michelin Pilot Road 2, both £150. I found some Michelin Pilot Powers cheaper though, £139 the pair from Demon Tweeks, so that`s what my bike is wearing now.
My mate says they are shit on his 954 Fireblade - I guess it depends not only on the bike, looking at the tyres on the average bike meet and how well they are used would give concern - as everyone will give an opinion even if they don't use the critical bit of the arc - your own opinion is the only opinion, buy them and tell yourself what you think. I you don't use the edge save mote money and get re-moulds :Cigar:
This is from Louigi moto's website. And they ought to know: "The other problem we find is a lack of feeling in the newer bikes. Manufacturers are fitting what we would call a trackday tyre to new superbikes. As much as it looks cool to have the latest flash looking tyres, sometimes fitting a different compound or type of tyre will radically change your riding on UK roads. Our experience shows that fitting a conservative tyre to your 1098R will give better grip, longer life and more feeling in the chassis. Combine this with a suspension setup and you will have a sweet, usable machine."
