I have this exactly this same argument with my dad almost every Xmas. He simply won’t have it that Ali and Pele weren’t the two greatest sportsmen to have ever lived, with George Best getting an honourable mention. Joking aside - it’s difficult to compare athletes from different eras because eg: who knows how much better Ali might have been with modern training and nutritional know how. PS: I know Mayweather is seen by many as the GOAT but he was boring to watch. My fave fighter was Pacquio, though it’s a pity he wasn’t fully fit for the Mayweather fight and then went on to long after that.
