Lewis didn't turn pro earlier because he wanted to fight at, and win gold at the 88 Olympics. Something Tyson never achieved.
Immaterial when celebrating his achievement and ability he won the heavyweight championship of the world at 20 let that sink in 20, he unified and became lineal also and I’m pretty sure he picked up gold at the junior olympics hence his status as widely accepted as being one of the best of all time yes there will be question marks on his career, could he have achieved more? Certainly but that is the draw with him a deeply flawed person with bags of natural ability that ran through the division as a youngest heavyweight champion ever you can’t disparage what was achieved with his loss to Douglas and lack of adult gold that is ridiculous
Could have achieved way more. But let’s face it: some (Don King etc) made more with him losing unexpectedly so encouraged his fall from pretty clean living boxing is all life to women, booze, drugs Once beaten, he lost that edge imho. That edge was that he felt he was invincible. Never regained it
Nothing needs to sink in, he was an amazing fighter, but he's not quite the machine you're making him out to be. He really, really wanted to go to the 84 Olympics, but he couldn't make it onto the team. Henry Tillman beat him twice in the qualifiers. I'd much rather have watched Mike Tyson fight than Lennox Lewis, but I'm not blind to his faults.
Now you have finished deleting/editing your posts and retracting “nukes” let’s move on and get back on topic Fury has one fight left on his contract and seems somewhat indifferent to fighting anyone out there rightfully so Personally I would like to see him fight Usyk and hopefully retire with all the belts what more can he achieve in this era ? No doubt Hearn has enough rematch clauses to keep Usyk tied up for the next few years and will probably try to make a case predictably for Whyte IF he comes through his fight with Wallin, so what does Fury do ?
Hopefully but we know how the machinations of the organisations can hamper these things and Joshua is shopping around in the USA for a new coach so he has the bit between his teeth so lets see how the rematch pans out
Iron Mike must really want the money. At 53 Mike vs 33 year old Tyson. Mike has had crap managers and advisors for years but surely none of them are suggesting this?. If he wants the money he should fight Logan Paul or one of the other young internet kids and make far more and not get hurt. Why does anyone think Mayweather did just that?
I think AJ found his level against Usyk. He simply wasn’t good enough. People said he should have gone for it, used his weight and power and blah blah blah. Truth is he clearly lost the first 3 rounds. That’s 25% of the fight gone. He knew it and so did his corner. So he still had 9 rounds to ‘fix’ it. But he couldn’t.
AJ is a modern day Frank Bruno - all muscles and smiles but a bit plodding and lacks killer instinct.
I watched Tyson destroy Bruno in a Changi airport lounge. Poor Frank didn't know what hit him -completely outclassed in every respect.
You know what? I’ve been watching some of Bruno’s old fights lately and he wasn’t bad. Better than AJ I reckon.
