D67 then D925 from Ugine to Bourg St Maurice is fun. Bit tight and hairpiny at the end. Was bloody hard work on the 1198 though. My wrists were killing me. The view from Le Chalet de Rosalind or the Lac was beautiful.
Slug; just hols with bro on his ST(D) 4 and maybe a mate on his 848 Evo Corse SE too if his wrists can take the strain!!!
Just been pointed out to me that Imola WSBk is on when i'm over in Pasta Land; doh . So a factory tour and a WSBK race when i'm there. Lovely.
Used to stay in the hotel de la poste every year when I were a youf ! Agree with going over the Jura, fantastic riding!
There is little wrong with that road down to Gex, except that it brings you out uncomfortably close to Geneva. You could also do the road up to Les Rousses, and then continue down with the Col de St.-Cergue, which is highly popular but not easy: all sorts of unpredictable bends which tighten up on you. Because of its popularity, it is popular with the police. Better still is to go to Pontarlier, and then to St-Croix (bit of a back road this, but Google Maps is your friend). You enter Switzerland by the deserted customs post of L'Auberson, quickly find yourself in the small town of St-Croix and then attack the Col de St-Croix which is good fun. Quite a fast run down, a few hairpins, and you'll see the whole of Switzerland stretched out in front of you. At the bottom, you'll be due north of Lausanne. It's a more bucolic route.
Why not cross the channel on the Poole to Cherbourg fast cat ferry spend a few days in Normandy B&B Normandy France Bed and Breakfast Holiday D-Day Beaches Mont St Michel wifi and ride on some of the quietest roads in france then down the coast roads to Spain.
And I was going to suggest that you should not cross the whole length of northern Spain without taking in at least some of the Pyrenees. But I guess there just isn`t time for everything.
1st official updates 1) Booked the ferry Portsmouth to Santander. 2) Madrid delisted (we'll do A Coruã - Burgos - Barcellona) 3) Paris delisted (we'll be back through Germany and Belgium... maybe even Luxemburg)
Slug, Try looking at going the Croatian side. The coast road is da dogs thingy's. Ferry to Brindesi. Ride to Sicily past Mt Etna. Ferry to Sardinia etc. For me I would not miss Corsica. The best place I have been in Europe.

Great route but I think the best way from 18 to 19 is val d'isere over the col de iseran down to modane then over the col de galibier, through la grave then past bourg d'oissons , amazing road!
You're right, I'm missing a few waypoints there. As you mention La Grave, hotel Edelweiss is a great place to spend the night with a wonderful view on La Meije. The maps were done with Road Trip Planner. While not as feature rich, it's by far the best alternative to Tyre on Mac...
