Unreliable Tickover & Revcounter Dropping Out

Discussion in 'Sport Touring' started by indiecourier, Jan 22, 2016.

  1. Well, I'm a bit ashamed to say I stuck the bike on the trusty trailor and took it to Luigi's.

    Got it back today.

Starts instantly, don't even need the cold start lever. Tickover's was a little high but I've got that down to about 1400, using the bypass screws only. Really smooth, far less clutch rattle, much less smelly. Rev counter not messing about.

    Wallet much lighter. Don't care.

As far as I can gather the biggest problem was the TPS being well out, also the butterflies were out of synch. Starting problem was just the solenoid.

I'm so happy I might even put it back together and ride it!

  2. Nice one, good to hear you got it sorted.

  3. Basic indeed. I'd be feeling even more useless if I'd had access to a gas analiser and stuff but as it is I'm just thoroughly relieved and excited at the prospect of getting to know the thing. Haven't actually ridden it since getting it back from Luigi's yet so there may yet be more Gremlins lurking.

Anyway, I hope to be escaping from Cardiff on a fairly regular weekend basis this year (excuses to ride ST, really) so perhaps I could invite myself down to yours and have a decent look at your collection?

Apart from Liz, my old lady, having had a rather nasty diagnosis back at the end of last year things are fine, thanks. More detail when I see you, eh?

All good with you and yours?
