  1. Hi and thanks.

  2. Right I need some help here.

I've been offered full cam sets from the following engines.

    748r
    748SPS
    916SP

What cams would suit my 996 biposto road bike best?

    Are the 748SPS aggressive cams?

    Thanks.

  3. id say the R cams were the most agressive!

  4. google ducati.ms there is a chart somewhere about the different cam timings and lift!

  5. Is this it,?
None of that makes any sense to me.
So that's why I'm asking here.
That someone with experience can tell me.
    748R
    748SPS
    916SP

Which of those 3 cam sets would be best in my 996 road bike?

    Thanks.

  6. Steve, you probably know the answer to this...
Can a 996SPS crank be fitted to 916 engine cases with single phase alternator?

  7. Thanks, that's a start.
Im building a replica of my SP1 and would like to build a similar engine.
Using the P8 ECU I've sourced the correct alternator cover for the second pickup, dual pickup flywheel, twin injector throttle bodies, wiring loom, 'G' inlet cams and single phase alternator and wasn't sure I could change the latter to 3 phase with this config.

  8. Hi Dublin and welcome from sunny West Cork :upyeah:

  9. No June 94 916

  10. Bologna say its frame and engine No's ID it as a 94 SP or SP1 an they became known following the release of the SP2 and 3
    1994 were SP's
    1995 SP2's and
late 95/6 SP3's which were the only ones to have the numbered yolk plate fitted.

Interestingly if you enter the frame No into the Ducati database its ID is "MOTO 916 RACING DM"

  13. Hi, did you get your cams ?

  14. Thankyou for all the advice.

Right so I have this right.....

Fit the 996 inlet cams into the exhaust side?
Fit the 748R inlet cams into the inlet side?

    Is that correct?
This will make more power/torque for me?

Also would I need Pistal high compression pistons for the 748r cams to work?

  15. Not yet.
    Do you have cams there?

  16. I have a pair of new 'G' cams i bought a while ago as spares but now thinking of putting them into a bike I'm building.
Having an SP with G inlet and A1 exhaust cams I can say that this setup drastically decreases bottom end performance and mid range isnt any better than a std Strada but past 6000 RPM the noise is awesome and the bike becomes alive and Ive come to love the whole experience. That said its more suited for the track really so I wouldn't advocate using these on a road bike unless your prepared to compromise and there's the thing, how much are you prepared to compromise and how deep are your pockets?. There has been some excellent advice here from people who know much more than me and should help you come to a decision.

  17. Thsnkyou very much for all the info and details.
    Much appreciated.

Looks like I'm ordering 748R cams then.

  18. Right....
    748R full cam kit ordered.
    Happy Days.

  19. Anyone know where I can get 4 adjustable cam pulleys for 996?
