Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by comesunt, Apr 17, 2015.

  1. Ecu is what came with the termi race system...

    Cheers,
    Bob

  2. It's not easy on an iPhone granted but if you can in the absence of everything else, go to Ducati.ms and search specifically in the 848/1098 section

  3. well i just tried that and couldn't find anything specific and I'm on a desk top.........cant you put a link to what you are referring to?

  5. Does it rev cleanly at higher revs or is it like that all the way up once it starts ?
Deff looks like electrical - looks like a plug / coil breaking down maybe ? (I know nothing about 848's)

  6. its like a rev limiter....

i would locate the ign pick up sensor on the nearside clean/check any connections as a start

is there anyone near who you can swap a few bits with for example like ECU or coils. ...

  7. So I've found the ignition pick up sensor. Planning to take it out and give it a clean incase it's fouled on the inside...
It looks like a right bitch to get out. I'm hoping it can be taken out in situ ??
Coolant pipes off enough? Not sure I can get an allen key to it. All the guides I've seen n line have the engine out...

  8. I will agree with Andy and suspect the pickup sensor connections.
The symptoms you describe match very closely with those I get on my 750SS. I don't know how it is on an 848 but on my 750, the lead from the pickup sensor ends in a triple connector which needed a clean up before the bike run properly.

    Good luck.

  9. check your inlet rubbers for a split as i've just had most of these symptoms on a 999 engine.

  10. I was also on an Iphone and tried 4 times - on a laptop/PC i'm sure there would be quite a list fitting O.P.s symptoms on there.

  11. can't get the ignition pick up sensor out. managed to get a small allen key on it but its torqued to stupid tight...
Might have to take airbox off the get a better tool onto it...
    When it rains it pours...

  12. no spare coils / ECU at circuit..., so other than check for fouling not sure what I can do...
    Pissed off now...

  13. Before you remove the sensor, check the wiring plug/connector for cleanliness/contact.

  14. It doesn't seem to be a full engine cut out, just real rough running. Can you swap over fuel tanks from another 848/1098?
Go round the garages with some biccies and a smile.

  15. Maybe Neil @nelly could have a look at vid

  16. Might have fixed it... Not sure how, Ducati Fairys might have fixed it while I wasn't looking...

Got to put her back together and take her out in 40 mins...

    Watch this Space...

  17. dirty connection........

  18. Reminds me of a crank sensor , cars do very similar when failing . Not much point in removing and cleaning it as it's the internal windings that fail .
If you let it cool off does it behave itself then play up when it gets hot .
It could be coils but coils and secondary ignition issues tend to fail more under load , just revving up stationary doesn't put to much load on em but not saying its not them .
    Do they have cam sensors
