899 V 1199

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by jimmy 43, Dec 13, 2014.

  1. I believe the 899 is more power and torque than a 999(not alot in it though)! The 1st 1098 was 160hp the 899 is 148hp so add the termis the up map and filter youre not far off ! I didnt notice a lack of grunt or mid range on the 899 but again i came from a 600 so its not really comparable

  2. Maybe in a few years i will jumo up but i wouldnt call it manning up i still ride fairly hard and fast even on the 600

  3. Don't believe what you are told. The 848 Evo is supposed to be 140. I had full termi system fitted remapped then dyno tested and it chucked 142 hp. I know people will say it wasn't done properly the remap that is but I have every confidence in the people that sorted it.

  4. I think I must be a lazy rider. I've had all the Ducati superbikes and now have the 1199. They've all been beyond my riding capabilities but I don't care. I don't care about how much difference in top speed or BHP they're is between the baby bike or big bike because for me or anyone else who only rides on the road it doesn't matter as you are restricted by the inconveniences of road use. I've always bought the bigger bike because it always produces more torque and that's where the fun comes from. The quicker it puts the power down effortlessly is what makes me grin. So even though the 899 produces a healthy 150bhp which is enough for me it doesn't produce the torque, that's why I prefer the 1199. If anyone went from an 1199 to a 899 the first thing they would notice is the lack of torque.

  5. Is Ducati ownership a bit like Porsche ownership, unless you own a 911 turbo etc, you don't own a real one?

Surely the 1199 owners don't think that about the 899? I doubt it be honest.

  6. No not at all they are all real Ducati's and are much loved for their little quirks

  7. My mates
my mates evo has termi end cans and thats it and it made 132hp at rw but needs remapping

  8. I was pissed off spec says 140 standard I was expecting 147/148hp on dyno with the mods.

  9. yeh cupid what I meant was a dealer will up your p/x price against a new bike but put the new bike at full list when if you've no p/x you may get 2k off say so really your loosing the 2k with having a p/x ,

  10. Ah I see well I have not met a dealer that's willing to knock 2k of a brand new bike

  11. I understand it's horses for courses, but to me more torque is great for crusing and touring, but when it comes to having fun it's all about wringing the neck and using the whole rev range, this is where I find less is more.

To me the 899 is a practical modern RS250. I can spend 6 hours in the saddle but when pushing I'm tearing through the rev range and actually using the quick shifter.

Anyway, that's my two cents, thankfully we're not all robots and want different things from our bikes.

  12. cupid you've never tried for a deal mate 2k easy off zx10, gsxr1000, I got 1k off me panni, just look on ebay biketrader , s1000rr were knocking cash off last year 1500,

  13. just look at the prices of the 1199 now grands knocked off , yes I know theres a 1299 coming, but black ones going around 18k?

  14. heres another rsv4r factory 3k off brand new,

  15. Thanks for that mate, I got £2,500 knocked off my car this year from dealers so I do no how to try and get a deal, just found the local dealers round here are proper tight arses.
Mind you the ones I have bought Panni from have gone out of their way a little.
And to be fair I ain't disappointed, and I think that's the important bit really, goes hand in hand with the bike you buy.
As long as the punter is happy with what he is getting then nothing else matters.

  20. But neither are brand new though at least I know how mine has been ridden and has been run in properly. Both those bikes are retail minus the vat coz they have been registered. I've bought mine to keep for a long time not as previous bikes which have been bought with the view to trade in at a later date for the next model out
