Footrest postion and grip was not to his liking when he had it on its side. Oh it was also road shift which he doesnt normally use.
I bet it needed throttle spacers. My pani did. Throttle spacers and race mode only = nice. OEM pegs are fine but footrest position isnt good. DP rearsets cured that. Taller screen is a must for me also. Same with grips. But R&G ones are shite. They keep peeling, despite following instructions and Im on my 2nd set. Buying different ones nxt time.
Thanks for posting the video Doogleman. As someone who can barely ride a fast motorcycle, I was watching with fascination what is possible on a fast bike when the rider is highly skilled. Given that Andy had never ridden the bike before, was adjusting to no race shift, no stomp grip, having to take 2 bites of the throttle etc,it seems likely that if the bike was fettled to his specs, and given a clear track he would be likely to beat his own record on the R1.
Send the video to Ducati with a note that if he had a free bike set up to race he would probably break the record, you never know what might happen if you don't ask.
Surprised he wants a quick action throttle. Mine feels pretty short travel and easily held wide open with thumb and forefinger.... When you're not hanging on to the bassah with both hands that is
when youre riding fast the throttle tends to be open or shut, i dont notice the free play while riding. i think it was confirmed the freeplay was needed so the ecu knew for sure when you were off the throttle , as to why it needs so much is anyones guess!!
