Definitely worth a look / ride I think. Additional 3k makes it a bit spendy, but I have to wonder just how many people fully pay for their bikes these days, or just do PCP, so only real issue is the monthly payment. I recall when I looked at the V4S it had a high residual value, so despite being more money than the 1260 was comparable on the monthly figure. I like they have reloacated the phone pocket, plus some of the other changes. I wonder if plastic panniers can still be fitted, and also if the pillion seat is higher than the V4S (If my wife can't get on & off or is not comfortable on it, its ruled out)
Trouble is, those PCP payments are about to rise with interest rates thanks to Lizzy. I bought my GS on PCP and kept the finance for 6 months so the sales guy got his commission (it was part of the negotiation). Looking back, I would have just kept it on finance. Will be changing the GS for something next year and the range of the V4s was the off puyting thing for me. Always loved the Multis since I had my 2010 model.
Only other benefits appear to be the two cylinders switching off whilst moving to reduce heat and consumption and i also noticed the specs mentoin this has engine brake control.
I figured that cylinder cut off thing would just be an ECU update that they'd eventually push to all V4 MTS'. I don't think there's a good reason not to. I wonder if the tank and phone pouch are transferable too (although the wiring for the phone pouch would be bespoke)
I would happily give up the inbuilt tank phone pocket (that my phone won't fit into) for an extra 5 ltrs on the V4S - then the V4S would be perfect - almost!
I'm glad they've released this machine, always felt it was a bit strange releasing the original V4 Muttley as a road/off-road bike depending on spec (wire wheels etc) just didn't sit quite right with me though I'm sure it's an amazing machine in either guise. No I won't be buying one, like my V twin thank you.
Trouble is with this I think most future multi's will have the larger tank/new shape as standard and software etc. which instantly makes me feel like mine is out of date after only 6 months of ownership and the PP I'm still waiting on might as well carry on waiting until its updated.
I can’t see it. A tank that size full weighs a huge amount. Fine for a long distance enduro but not for anything sporty. Don’t worry, they’re more likely to produce an extra mode “ frugal ” than make a Pikes Peak “fat” edition.
Trouble is you'd then be waiting forever for the right bike as they'll just keep making new models. I hear the Multistrada V6 is next.
