V4 V4 Topbox

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Paul Martin, May 17, 2021.

  1. Did you manage to sort this issue I’m just about to order a Plate and wondered if you had successfully fitted it?

  2. Not yet. Been bogged down with work. I will have a look tomorrow, I will take some pics and hopefully someone can advise

  3. I have a V4S with the 47ltr Ducati Top Box which is great for weekends away and short trips. For daily use I would like to fit a Givi 30ltr Monokey Trekker (DLM30B) box so things aren't rattling around in the bigger box.
Anyone know if that the 30ltr Givi will fit in place of the Ducati 47ltr box as a straight swap over, I don't want to be swapping mounting plates etc before a trip. Ducati says no but others may know better :)

  4. Can't see why not as long as it hasthe standard Givi Monolcok fittings.

I have a iconic parts plate and Givi Trekker fitted to my V4.

  5. I've just ordered the Iconic luggage rack along with the E115F spares kit so that I can use my existing Trekker Outback 58 (because I'm a dork!). I'll keep you posted if it fits without any modification...

  6. Do you still have to order the Iconic rack in order to be able to mount a Givi Monokey box?
I looks kind of ugly adding that big plate. What does the standard set up look like if you have the Ducati Top box, can you order a Givi monokey plate separately?

I was going to but another Hepco and Becker Easyrack again as I had this set up on my last bike and already have the Journey top box (albeit a bit tasty now)

But I wondered if it would be cheaper to get a mounting plate and normal Givi box, I'm not interested in forking out the the Ducati one (unless I can pick up a cheap S/H one)

  7. I thought the Multistrada V4 only required an adaptor plate for the aluminium top box. The plastic top box just fits straight on …… or it dies on the Pikes Peak. Andy

  8. Ah ok, I though I might still need a plate for a Givi monokey plastic box? Maybe the plate is attached to the box already?

  9. Thanks for the link, I wasn’t really looking for an adventure style box but they seem pretty good

  10. I have the Ducati top box on my V4 and also the Givi weighless top box which expands from 29L to 34L. As Ducati and Givi both use the monokey system, there is no need to change the plate as they both fit

  11. Thanks but is there an actual plate on the back of the bike?

And is this something I can buy?

  12. Here you go Chris:

Ducati Accessory: Plate for the Aluminium top case (any Givi Monokey)

Not cheap but does include the side to side sliding feature as per the rear of the standard pannier mounts. Bolts onto the rack and does not require side support arms like the 1200/1260.

  13. The Iconic plate is much more subtle than either the Ducati or Givi plates.

Plus it gives you more options for soft tailbags with the shape and cut outs for straps.

  14. This is the plate I use for both boxes

  15. It's the mounting plate that comes with the Ducati Plastic top box which is why the top case is so expensive.

  16. At that price I’ll probably order another Hepco & Becker rack and use my existing top box.

It’s a shame you can’t buy that direct from Givi as it would probably be much cheaper!

  17. Givi do a universal monokey plate which will work and there are plenty of s/h plates on ebay for little money that would be worth trying and maybe drilling to fit. Might well fit anyway without the need to drill.
