V4 V4r Or V4 Speciale

  1. Yeah but squeezing 200+ hp from a 999cc, and maintaining reliability, ain't cheap. I'd imagine it's gonna be close power wise to the S1000RR Race lump. And we all know the financial up keep of that Bavarian bad boy.

  2. It could have been (and may still be if there are optional extras available that don’t outside the homologation rules price cap) a lot more expensive. For what you are likely to get, yes, I do think €40,000 is cheap. Affordable is an entirely different matter though. Andy

  3. Aprilia manage it at half the price ;)

  4. Sorry, I fail to accept that ANY bike is cheap at 40k. A desmo wasn't cheap, a SL wasn't cheap. In fact, a V4S most certainly isn't cheap and its considerably less.

Others than a MGP bike, of course ;)

  5. I think you'll find that the Aprilia ***RF, can't remember all the letters, is significantly less impressive power wise than the S1000RR Race.

  6. Yet the homologation model, thats seems fast enough in WSBK, is based on it.

Ducati has simply overpriced itself now. May be thats why the likes of Metropolis and Riders are closing branches? Too little demand to sustain the dealer network areas.

I mean, whats a bog standard monster, 13k? My 1000 has way more power, all the tricks of the R and more, has brand presence and is less than a std monster.

    Whats a scrambler? 11k?!

  7. It’s not a topic of conversation that has a black or white answer. Why buy a BMW, Mercedes or Porche when Kia and Dacia make competent vehicles ? There is no accounting for personal taste or for what people will justify spending on a bike or car. Andy

  8. Point taken but love it or loathe it, the Ducati brand is uber 'cool' maaan... They look and sound better than the competition. For example, my Casio G-Shock does all things better than my Rolex at a fraction of the cost, but I know which one I prefer wearing.

  9. BTW lets not mix 'cheap' with what an individual may consider as VFM.

But if companies rely upon volume sales, which Ducati seem to be now with their growth over last few years, they will need to address it or catch the biggers cold of all when the PCP bubble pops
