  1. I believe they have also, from the black engine bikes (or around that time, so 2017, they had cranks with hard shims fitted to ensure that there isn't any side float. As I understand it the issue was that the crank would wear, move slightly to one side and basically the clearance between the balance shaft weight and the crank weight was so fine they would hit and basically snap the end of the crank off... loads have ridden them without issues, but equally there have been a number of VERY similar crank failures well covered in the press and Youtube.

  2. Ive done the deal on the V4S now, just a week or two away from collecting it. Im not rushing to sell the R1 as I was really impressed with it on the last trackday. @Philm I didnt do anything with the brakes except Brembo pads. The R1 2009-2012 was a bike i really enjoyed riding and it looked the part. So will see how it goes now, ill need the cash out within about 6 months but that gives me sometime on the road on the V4s. A few chilli rides in my near future for sure

  4. Good news buddy, you won’t regret it; I find the brakes on the V4 fantastic once I’d popped some Zo4s in! Possibly even better than the full Hps discs, brembo m/c etc set up on the R1! Let us know how you get on , be interesting to hear you’re thoughts on the comparison!

  5. I do need some new brake pads, current ones are at the end of life. Zo4's you say! lets check them out

  6. Pricey, and not a great deal of uk stock at the moment. Cheapest I could find them in-stock was £250 for a set from Addiction Motorsport. They are marked race / track use only (need to get some heat into them before they start working properly).

  7. Whaaaaa ....... that is pricey. I do need something that is fine for the road too. I usually stick to brembo's but not looked at whats available or prices yet.

  8. Yes the zo4s are track focused although I use them on the road too! There are lots of alternatives but if you want the best then it’s zo4 every day! They are expensive yes but they’ll outlast most other pads! Give Brett a ring at RRPS he’s about the cheapest and always has stock! If you’re more road focused then perhaps SBS or similar would be better!
