V4 V4s Problems Ironed Out?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by JoePeps, Jun 20, 2019.

  1. Usage as much as time will allow i.e odd track day and Sunday blasts.

    No PCP

  2. Naughty top of the line 1299 or a first edition V4 that's taken its shit but MUST have warranty. IMO, alot of money mate. Buy whatever gets you hard.

  3. Yep I’ve had some sleepless nights already - I’m looking at a 1299FE on Friday up close and personal.

  4. Could be a good investment that. Good luck with the search, get some info on it and pop it up on here. You'll get some good advice.

  6. The 1299FE was firmly on my radar before I pulled the trigger on the V4S. As I was only going to use whatever I bought as a track toy, I opted for the V4S. 12k cheaper than the FE which gave me scope for track prep (man maths ) In the end I didn't buy into the 'special' thing with the FE as it's not a limited run. Plus I think a well prepped V4S is a better track slag.

Purely my choice and preference, but if I were going for a special Panigale, I'd look for a tidy Panigale R. I think they look lovely and also an amazing bike to ride apparently. I've never had a go on one.

  7. Looks like you were right, I'm sat here now at the dealers whilst my bike is receiving updates, (evo2) and clearing the faults. Tech says the exhaust valve is out of sync.

  8. How much are they charging for the EVO2 update?

  9. Panigale Riders group on FB. Seems Americans take it pretty seriously lol.

  11. I've been pondering on this. Bikes like the v4, seem to have been designed more for the track than the road. I wonder if there is any small print in ducati's sales contact that forbids use of a track bike without invalidating the warranty?

  12. The R's do seem to be having a few niggles on track. Not all obviously but I've noticed one or two. Nice termi's :):upyeah:

  13. Clutch problem on mine one moment working perfect next moment I am getting loose lever movement almost all the way to the bar, clutch still works but then reverts to engaging nice and early. When pulled fully in clutch bites nice and early, just a shock sometimes when it takes so long for lever to engage on pull

  14. EML came on today, it’s not been fired up for a few weeks and the reserve light had come on approx 5 miles ago, going by the trip on the screen, bike was running fine, put petrol in straight away, rode for another hour, then when I stopped turned the bike off for a bit, EML cleared in its own, any ideas?.
I’m giving some thought to selling it to be honest, going to carry on with it this year then either get the new Honda that’s supposed to be coming or the new S1000RR.

  15. I know this is a Ducati forum but...
I have to go away for work for around 6 months in October, I get back right at the start of the season and I definately want something very nice and very 1 litrey for track only, I'd love a V4 but I just hear about constant niggles .
Everyday I'm thinking more R1 or RR.
One bike that I am finding very interesting though, if they put the price down noticeably enough below the V4, is the street fighter, that thing might even be enough to get me on the road again.

  16. Well mines been ace :):upyeah:

  17. My first V4 was a horror show of faults (from the day I collected it - March 2018). My 2nd one, collect a year ago... hasn't missed a beat!! Like two different bikes... i'll never buy a 1st gen Pani again!

  18. Anyone had issues with the Biketrac units? I am on No 2 - burnt out!

  19. I was quoted £400+ from a dealer

What dealer is doing the evo2 update for you ,i was also told they wont apply it to road bikes, track bikes only due to safety reasons..

ie. its designed for track use
