V4 V4s Progress

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by JoePeps, Jul 7, 2019.

  1. Did 2 days at Cadwell this week and the bike was minging, so a deep clean needed this weekend. Also needed new pads and the road wheels going on as got an evening at Donny this week. Just doing a steady one with no tyre warmers etc and riding up so needed it back to legal.
It’s done 3500 miles now and running perfectly. Love it.

  2. So with winter here I decided to start a mini strip down and clean ready for next year. Want to get into all the awkward places whilst in a few bits.

Got quite a few plans for it:

    - track wheels being refurbed with new bearings and a fresh set of slicks, dropped them off today.
    - fairings being repainted, undecided on colour yet but fancy a glossy British racing green for something different!
    - tank wrapped in brushed ali like an R so it suits better with either road or track fairings ( @evoboy i still need to sort this with you!)
    - few carbon fibre bits to tart it up
    - few new bolts as some looking a bit grim, like front calliper bolts
    - possibly some brembo hpk discs, pricey though!

So a few pics of progress up to now, managed to find almost a full Bridgestone worth of excess rubber hidden about the bike! Also removed and cleaned the rad guards and rad. Considering they’ve been on from day 1 and mostly track it’s amazing how much damage is in there and a big build up of dirt so well worth while.

  3. Also, anyone got any great cleaning tips for the exhaust?! Can’t seem to get rid of a lot of rubber marks which is annoying!

  4. Nice work. Nice M4... or 3:thinkingface: as well :upyeah:

  5. Clean it up with Harpic.

then use a decent metal polish :) upload_2020-11-9_18-5-40.png

  6. Is it me or is your coolant a tad on the high side in that reservoir? The level on mine is right down the bottom, between the min and max lines.

  7. Cheers mate.
    V8 M3, bloody love it!

Will that take off the rubber then? Will get some bought this week, thanks.
Normally brake cleaner does a great job of getting it off but these marks are stubborn as hell!

Funnily enough I posted that in the what have you done today thread, the other side only has the tiniest bit in at the bottom. I’ve done nothing with it so unsure.

  8. It worked on my 1299 mate

so I would assume so.. worth a try

  9. I’ve got the evotech guards to fit at some point. Are they a burger to fit or fairly straightforward? Also, a quick blast of WD40 is good for rubber and adhesive marks on bare metal

  10. Would get rid of the mudguard mounted link hose for the front brakes. I know of two people who sheared that
with mudguard damage and lost their front brakes. If you end up competing at any point, the construction regs don't
allow a crossover below the lower triple for exactly that reason.

  11. Nah pretty easy mate to be honest, the instructions are ok but just take your time and it all makes sense.
    WD40 didn’t touch the marks.

Won’t be competing mate just track days, and can’t be bothered with major plumbing like that, especially when it’s under warranty.

  12. Awesome key ring! You couldn't get it out of the photo. :joy:

  13. Ordered a carbon swingarm and frame protectors, turned up today and they look incredible! So now I’ve ordered front and rear mudguards and the exhaust cover, £1200 as easy as that!

  16. Jesus Christ

my frame and swing arm protectors were £200 odd quid :joy:

they do look sexual though bud :) imberger make top quality stuff

  17. Yeah I could have gone cheaper but I’d rather just spend a bit more and get the best there is. They are literally flawless.

Downside is the front fender is going to take about 12 weeks! But hopefully I’ll have the rest before Christmas so it fills a day tinkering in the garage fitting it all.
