  1. Nick,
    Pm sent, I think :)
    (not much experience with pm's)

  2. Yep received. I think we’re both Dutchies....:)

  3. Ah, I was not sure. I checked your profile but it said you're located in England. So yes, we're both Dutchies.
Super bedankt. Kan ik weer verder met mijn blok opbouwen :)

  4. Mega kerel. Tijdje in de UK gewoond vandaar. Ik kijk of ik hem morgen kan vinden en dan kost het je de verzendkosten.

    Cheers

just kidding, postage will be fine.

    cheers.

  7. Super!

PM me the shipping costs and your bank account, I will transfer the money right away

  8. That doesn't look like a 748R, 916SP, 996 SPS part to me???
It looks like a standard 916 part!
Never mind I've still got both of the parts that you need for a fair price.
I've also got a pair of modified 916SP heads fitted with 36/30 valves that will work a lot better than your 748R heads...

  9. Steve,
As I understand the part number should be 240.1.015.1AA, which is supposed to fit a 748R.

    Nick,
Can you check the part number (just to be sure)? The above number is what you communicated and based on info I got from the ducati.ms forum fits a 748R my 02

    TIA,
    Jacco

  10. Steve,
Good to know there's back up when needed :).
But you don't know about my 748R heads. I am sure your 916SP heads will work great, but my 748R heads are also modified. I am very curious how my engine will work out, performance wise. I am a bit concerned with the 748R cams which like higher rpm's but are a bit low on grunt in the middle rpm's (compared with SPS cams) but we'll see.

  11. Hi Jake,
The thing to take onboard here is that "Short Stroke" cams rarely work well with a "Long Stroke" motor and the other way around.
748R cams were designed to fill a 748cc motor at high revs, T1SPS cams were designed for a long stroke big bore motor at lower revs.
The Desmoquatro motors I've built have all made their best/peak power at under 10Krpm, a good target if you want the motor to be reliable/stay together/not go BANG!...
On the 851/888 Forum there's a guy in Australia who fitted 748R heads and cams to his 96/66mm 955cc motor and the results were very disappointing, also the 748R heads were as OEM quite poorly ported.
The 916SP heads I might sell have a proven ability to make 130 rwbhp from a 916cc motor, with a raise in the comp' ratio I'm sure that they'd make even more, and even more so from a bigger motor.

  12. Steve,
I think I’ve read that story. Was that the guy who felt treated badly on the forum and delisted him self?

I still have the 64 mm stroke and was hoping that the character would be somewhat like that of the 853R that was a popular mod some years ago

  13. It might have been him, if it's the guy I remember he didn't listen to the advice and then got the hump when it was pointed out/he thought members were taking the piss...
Something that I can honestly say I can't remember happening on that forum.
851/888/916 and 900 all have a stroke from 64 to 68 mm which are all very close, they're all short stroke motors.
But the much shorter stroke of the 748's is quite away off of those strokes.
The piston in a 916 only moves 1mm farther down and 1mm farther up than a 851/888, the piston with a 68mm stroke crank only moves 2mm farther up and down this is a very small difference, but the jump to a shorter stroke 748 crank isn't a small jump and makes a BIG difference when it comes to the cams fitted.
Good luck with your project and please let me/us know how you get on with it.
Having said that I still think you'd be better off starting with cams intended for the longer stroke Desmoquatro's.

  14. Steve,
    I'll keep you posted.
My project is moving slowly, I am also rebuilding part of my house.
Hope to give it a boast though and finish the tuning this winter.

  15. Ok I bought it in the under standing it’s a 748R part. Never needed because they replaced it with maintenance. But again show me how a 748R one looks like.....

  16. Nick,
I don't have a picture of the 748R cover but I had my friend (where my bike is at the moment) take a look at the dimensions for the cover. The holes in the inspection cover (exhaust) should measure approx. 90 mm apart (width) and 45 mm (hight). I think you should be able to check your cover with these numbers

  17. Here you go. 55 and 90.

    cheers

  18. If it helps here is an earlier style Cagiva one with part number visible which I don't think is the one you want, your part number ending 015AA looks correct for the later ones, not sure the ones in Nick's pics are the ones you need IMG_0003 (2).JPG

  19. Hi Nick, Steve, Denzil,

I think Steve was right on the money when he looked at the pictures of Nick's cover.
The needed part for the 748R head has the same width but less hight (45 mm in stead of 55).

Nick, no use sending me this part as it won't fit my head. Thanks for the offer though.

    Steve,
    I'll pm for your covers.

    Regards,
    Jacco

  20. Without any measuring of the covers that Denzil and Mark have posted, I can tell/see that those covers are for a 916 because of the position of the mounts for the oil cooler.
It probably helps that I've got both 916 and 748R covers sitting here in front of me.
