Vertical Cyclinder Problem

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by anthony bellars, Apr 9, 2020.

  1. Just over £500 for value clearance check and adjusted and ECU replaced with a used one ! . Had full report on clearances and new caps that wee used

  2. Not bad IMHO

  3. If it has fixed it, but it didn’t and it would make me wonder if the other stuff was done right..

  4. Check the ignition pickup at the crank, there is a test you can do with a multimeter at the igniter boxes (search on the forum). I had one that started to fail and got intermittent firing problems on one cylinder and caused me to chase my tail until it finally gave up the ghost and I could diagnose it properly. Electrexworld part (about £50 IIRC) and a bit of soldering later and all has been well for the last 5 years or so.

That said, all the other suggestions are valid too. Sod's Law says that you start to eliminate fuelling and it turns out to be sparks and visa versa: unamused:

  5. Cps airgap
    Flywheel still tight
    Swarf on cps face
You need a doner bike to swap parts to diagnose

  6.
  7. Do you think fitting a power commander would help to sort out the air /fuel ratio if this is the problem ? Thans

  8. I don’t think so, you need to establish and fix the root of the problem first.

  9. I wonder how they justified replacing the ECU? I know it’s sometime ago, but that isn’t right that they replaced it possibly on a whim and didn’t give you the old one back, particularly as it hasn’t solved it, as said. I’d be tempted to phone them even now.

  10. Dino find the problem fix the problem optimise its performance at the same time simples
