Vinyl Wrapping - First Attempt!

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by pingping010101, Apr 12, 2013.

  1. Apart from anything else it would be wise to keep the standard bodywork for resale time. Paintjobs look great, but they batter secondhand values.

  2. I can see your obviously very interested after I offered my opinion, I'll post up some pics of my wrapping just as soon as I complete my next project, infact you may be able to help me out a little? Could you send me a few of those 'Think Bike' stickers your such a fan of, want to cover my bike in them, three or four should do it as they're so big.......

  3. I finally fixed all the stickers today to see if I was happy. I was not.

I got a quote of £500 for a full respray in red which I'm going to go for.

Going to use the ford radiant red colour.

Just need to find carbon fibre effect stickers that match the original "Ducati 749S" off the side fairings and the "ducati superbike" ones off the tail.

    Any ideas?

  5. ebay £5.00 textured loving it...

  6. £500, shitty death, I just had a tank, fairing and tail unit done in black for £250 and the tank was in a right mess. If you could get your stuff up to Newbury you'd save a bloody fortune.

  7. Where in Wiltshire are you Tom? Get it up here and I'll take it into the guy who I use.

  8. Here's how it turned out.

    It's being peeled off now.

It's hard to do a symetrical design as the different on each side.

  9. I would have thought Red would be a more expensive colour to use , red pigment is more expensive I heard.

  10. Didn't turn out well, really. Such is life with altering bikes. Is there anything wrong with the original bodywork, by the way, or are you covering up some demons?

  11. Yellow is a pig, whether you spray or hand paint, red is infinitely easier than yellow.

  12. There's nothing wrong with it, I just wanted to muck about with it. I've striped all the vinyl off now.

There are marks in 3 areas, on the front of the lower fairings where the v piece and the fairing meet, on the left hand lower (i dropped a panel and about 50mm x 4mm of paint chipped off of the bulbous part,) and in the crease on the petrol tank the paint is flaking.

Should look lovely in a glossy red

  13. Mind you, I'm still waiting to see Drinky's efforts, seeing as how he offered such a strong opinion...

  14. I'll show Tom it when he pops round with his fairings for me to get painted.

  15. You seem overly shy for someone who outwardly cried 'shite' at someone else's work.

  16. Like I said, it looked shit so I told him so ( I wonder how many other people saw and thought the same?) which if you read the thread Tom acknowledged and has subsequently taken it off.

  17. Yes, but you can't criticise other peoples' work so openly without putting your own work up for critique. Are you worried about the response?

  18. Not at all, to be honest I just can't be arsed provide evidence to you. Again if you read the thread you will also see I offered him some advice on where to get cheaper vinyl and also on how to apply it, so do I have to prove that it's cheaper where I suggested and buy it for him?

  19. think you need a bit of TACT drinky

  20. Whys that? Honesty is the best policy as they say. Just like Figaro was honest when he posted that I should fuck off from his thread.
