If you are painting the bike red why not use Ducati red instead of a Ford colour, just a question not a criticism ??
V For gods sake don't criticise anyone on here mate, you'll be having to show evidence as to why you deemed your comment worthy before you know it.
Iang27 that's an easy one to answer. The painter I was using would have to buy in the ducati paint as a special order and thus at higher cost, but can mix car paints up from his existing stock as he usually paints cars. Might be different with drinky's friend though
I can confirm that Drink is pretty good at vinyl wrapping. He's also a very nice chap that is going out of his way to help a total stranger, so tact or not, he's a pretty good bloke.
Rather than spend your entire biking life explaining why its not the right red (some are anal enough to say so!) why not go for another colour?
I think the plan is to request Ducati Rosso, and if he can't do it easily then Ford Radiant Red is a close equivalent and I'm happy to go with that.
my 1098 is the wrong red, and the black frames the wrong red too im afraid, i might make it yellow, the cheaper slower colour
Now the panels are on their way to being red I can start obsessing about decals. I'm going for red only so no white panel like the standard mono 749S has. I am thinking white for this decal - Bottom decal of right column - which I will put in the original location but white on red, no background, like the Panigale decals. Then I'm thinking a custom decal for the side panels, but not so large as the original 749 decals are and maybe with a name after the number; in the style of the '1199 Panigale' but with '749 someothername' Then I'm going to find as much carbon stuff as I can to hang off of it. I already have clutch cover, heat shield, front and rear huggers. I'm thinking of replacing the carbon clutch cover with a nice open one and a DP red pressure plate and DP springs etc. Carbon for the tank pad, the ignition cover and anything else I can find.
Know it's almost 1am but know have a red one!! Pictures to follow tomorrow. I need a fuel pump o-ring. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
