We in have a Skoda Kodiaq with the 1.5 TSI and DSG box. We get a average of 42 MPG which is driving around the local area and a weekly longer journey. On a long journey with 4 people and a load of luggage we see 49 MPG. This is a big car but the small engine in combination with the DSG works brilliant. No rocket ship but never feels underpowered. It has heaps of low down torque so the shift points are very low. About 2300 rpm. At 70 mph it revs 2100 rpm. Being petrol it revs freely so when you boot it it doesn't run out if steam in the higher rpm range like some diesels do. It also switches off 2 cylinders when your just rolling or coasting or it de-clutches. You'd never know it does all of that but for the revs dropping or the display telling you. Can't really comment on reliability as the car has only done 16000 but so far it's completely trouble free. I had a tow bar fitted too and towing is no problem either. Just be aware that tow bar installation isn't something you can do at home as it needs extensive wiring, all the way to the glove box in my case, and it then needs coding as well. That's not cheap (£650). My other car is a Mercedes diesel, AdBlue Automatic etc. In my opinion the Skoda is better every which way you look at it. Better build quality, longer service intervals.and everything works just that little bit better or looks that little bit better.
Late decision. 150 tdi Superb Sportline dsg7 estate purchased. Demo car, 6000 kilometers, warranty to ‘29 or 100k. Huge boot, loads space, good spec.
