All Im prepared to say is im VERY VERY HAPPY with the end result. If hub mod can be seen on new version Ill post pics.Im positive anyone else that has problems will get the same high standard of customer support. They have to as even more competition about now. They are claiming lighter than BST's version. Very nice.
Yes they will. They are affected by tax disc position and relative humidity. I would also avoid standing in front of on coming vehicles.
Result is as follows - Very happy with Dymag CSA service I have received following problem with previous rear wheel.Took a little longer than I first expected but then they have been running several long term tests on these new design CA5 carbon single sided rear wheels. Rear wheel now has new design alloy hub. New bonding supplier Addition of bolts into hub Judging by the scales they seem even lighter weight than old type Please see pics and cant wait to get them fitted along with my carbon fuel tank at JHP so my bike will be back to its old very raw razor sharp handling self again.
For once Ive been selling clothes via ebay.Sold a few things like a Belstaff leather jacket, gucci hi tops ,comme des garcons sweatshirt etc etc. Typical though out of 9 sales only 5 ended up paying.
Nice result Matt! That's pretty good customer service considering they had to research the fault, and then engineer and test a solution.
I hope the torque is not being transferred by the eight radial M6(?) cap head screws alone from the chunky alloy hub into the very thin CFRP wheel flange...(2nd and 3rd pictures)
Not sure on that one RickyX but noticed Rotobox and BST use similar bolts into hub area for there carbon bike wheels also.Lets see how they hold up but I was thinking the bolts were just a fail safe or something so problem I had with older wheel would not occur again.
Ricky im hoping the bonding does what its supposed to do this time.If you spot anything you don't like the look of then by all means post it up as im no expert. Its this new bolt application Dymag has stated stops the problem I had. By the way had a read through the care, serial number and warranty card that came with new Dymag wheels and spotted this.Im sure warranty used to be two yrs and now only 12 months.
Thanks mate. Its almost perfect to ride now in my eyes after many upgrades that have transformed the bike. Still I keep getting a itch for the 998R or 06 999R Xerox rep but might end up thinking ive made a huge mistake especialy if its standard one.
seriously Matt, youve put youre heart, soul and wallet into that bike....dont flog it just because youve got an itch to scratch...once its gone, its gone..only sell her if, as, and when youre bored to death....if i was in your boat, i'd try and keep her in mothballs, and by fair means or foul, get the doh together to get something else thats just as special...
Yeah Funky I think that might be the plan. The 998R ive seen would just be a project to get back to standard mint condition as buyer like them. Not sure how id get on with the smoother more refined bikes in the long run. On the UK roads if I give the old 916sps full throttle for a while i still smile like mad and think this is way to much to be legal or safe lol. Its the barking mad engine and lightweight of this bike I love so much. I remember sitting on a standard 749R at a dealers just to get a feel of it and thought this is fucking heavy compared to my bike.Riding position felt flat and weird almost like a tourer after 916 racing position. To be honest as much as I love my dukes id prefer another type of bike like a KTM adventure rather than two superbikes.
after a 916 any bike feels like a tourer mate...when ive been out on the 1098 i feel like on a blackbird or something similar...the nose seems really wide....then when i hop back onto my 916 she feels really skinny and my knees are really bent and theres a long reach to the bars...you get used to both positions very quickly though... all these things you'd have to consider if you ever did change. I must say, i really like the look of the KTM 1290 with the orange/white wheels..it looks like a proper bit of hooligan tackle...you'd still need to keep your 916 though...you'd feel a traitor otherwise, and there will always be the beckoning feeling to get back on that bitch..
Ok so today I finaly got to ride the old 916sps again with Dymag ca5 carbon wheels fitted.Been on since December but just to busy with other things till now.Id like to thank Dymag for the speed they solved the problem and got a set back to me within a couple of months. Not bad for a very small very high tech UK company. The difference between alloy marchesini's and Dymag ca5 carbon is night and day.It not something you just about notice more like a smack in the face. Turning is taking abit of getting used to again as bike feels slightly twitchy. Its not its just my brain needs to adjust but this only took a week last time I made the change. The biggest difference I noticed this time is just how much difference carbon wheels make to acceleration. The results on acceleration compared to standard ducati wheels can only be described honestly as jaw dropping.
Bike felt absolutely shite with alloy marchesinis on.Now the carbon Dymags are back on my old bike feels exactly like it used to.Im as happy as a pig in shit.
Just had the bike weighed at mot centre. Filled the tank just before I got there and bike weighed 185kg wet.Mechanic told me to take off around 15kg for dry weight like manufacturers seem to use now.So in the region of 170kg.Not bad for a old bike.Jhp dyno shows 137hp best they have seen for standard SPS motor. No wonder it feels fecking fast.
