To restore the mirrors to black, use peanut butter - smooth or chunky, doesn't matter. Restores greyed plastics back to black, lasts for months. Get a jar of supermarket's own economy/value for this purpose. It works.
I thought it was the voices in my head, but realised it was actually the squirrels told me to do it. No. Read it somewhere, followed by experiment on wife's car... shhhh!
wasps like peanut butter, wouldn't be putting that on my mirrors! If they have faded use a hairdryer or heat gun to restore the colour then protect them with a trim dressing. If they are just stained or dull then try meguires trim gel. It lasts very well!!
I shall look into the Meguiars Trim Gel. If I rub peanut butter over the mirrors, my dog will go after them... ETA: I think I'm going to go with Nanolex Trim Rejuvenator. I've got some of their other stuff, well happy with that and the reviews of the Trim Rejuvenator are all positive.
I tried the Nanolex stuff yesterday, a difference of day and night. I haven't been back to my bike yet to see what it does after a couple of hours, but first impressions are really good.
I'm not sure if this is available overseas but I use Top-Kote finishing spray it will make anthing black look brand new after being washed. It also helps keep dirt from sticking too. Oh and it smells real good! Here's some pics on my Harley and it doesn't hurt if you get it on paint or chrome or any other finish. This is a 2006 model. Looks just like brand new.
My eyes!!!! On a Ducati Forum! I know it is Easter, goodwill to all men and all that, but a shiny Hardly Dangerous, with no warning, popping up whilst scrolling? ADMINISTRATORS???
I have no experience with this product, but I am very tempted to buy some simply because of the excellent name: Fuchs-Off 5ltr Buy One Get One Free If anyone knows a good place to buy regular WD40 I'd be grateful. I am running low and use it for various things, including cleaning chain lube of wheel rims and preventing rust in allen bolt heads. I was a bit shocked to see it at over £7 for a can in a petrol station the other day, and Poundland only sells laughably small cans (I wasn't really expecting a full sized can for £1, but you never know).
I use a lot of wd40 so buy it in 5 litre tubs for day to day cleaning, but, for round the brakes, chain area, high grime, dust type stuff sdoc 100 all the way, neat as well...
Another for SDOC 100 bike cleaning gel.I used to use auto glym bike cleaner but found the SDOC works far far better.Even gets rid of crap built up long term on the brake calipers that no other cleaner shifted.I haven't had any problems as I haven't got any unpainted plastic stuff on the bike but the EVR un lacquered carbon airbox looks better after a wipe over with wd40. Couple of pics of parts that get covered in brake dust and chain crud after the SDCOC treatment.
Well, in agreement ive never used sdoc on bodywork - seems a bit overkill but as you say when its in its neat form its perfect for cleaning the bottom of fork legs. On the termis on my hypermotard it was especially good for getting the end-caps bright which is the first place that the exhaust starts to discolour....
