Wdfw 2020 - South Wales 24-27 April

Discussion in 'Touring' started by West Cork Paul, Dec 29, 2019.

  1. i am 100% committed although it does hinge slightly on my new job... the need to work would be the only thing that prevents me from going (or lack of a running bike!) but other than that,i'm still in.... i do understand @West Cork Paul that travel restrictions may change things for you and i wouldnt really want to do this trip without you and any others that are affected... perhaps though, we could still plan on doing it and make a definite call a lot closer to the time..?. as i understand it we dont have to confirm with the hotel till a few weeks out?

  2. affected? effected? im confused now....

  3. affected in that instance:upyeah: You were right first time:upyeah:

From me it's a yes to holding the line at present (but SWMBO will have other thoughts:(), it's 6 weeks away yet, I just wanted to solicit the opinion of others. I reckon I'll have to make a decision w/c 6th April to be fair to the hotel, but I can see the situation in the UK, and here, becoming like that in Italy at present, it being the only way to really try and contain the spread :(.

I can also see I'm not going to be able to go to WDW2020 this year and will have to forfeit my flights with RyanB'stadAir:mad:

  4. I’m up for it but fully agree with @chizel s comment.

  6. I'm still good for April, but if it needs to be another date I'm good, can't do September though.

  7. I’d be in favour of postponement to September. The way things are developing I’ll be surprised if it’s feasible for all at the time planned.

  9. I think postponement is prob best idea to be honest - time booked off and looking forward to it but can see us not having an option soon

  10. Unless the UK is shut down, and hotel won’t allow it, and no fuel stations open, I’ll still be going

  13. lets wait for soon and see dude!!! or do you have to make ya mind up now? times will get mighty tough all over if every one cancels stuff based on what might happen.... also appreciate that for some decisions have to be made sooner rather than later... shit times eh?

  14. What's the cut off date for the hotel ?............... we've been told there will be an update on Monday ( work in the NHS). There's been a lot of ward alterations going on lately, isolation rooms etc

  15. Shall we start a new thread titled; ‘how much hand sanitizer does your bike carry?’

  16. There’s no definitive cut off date for the booking but to be fair to the hotel it would be best to let them know sooner rather than very last minute. As I mentioned above perhaps in w/c 6th April.

IMHO within 72 hrs the UK will apply the same measures as Ireland and Denmark has done today if not even more draconian along the lines of Italy. How long it will last is anyone’s guess at present.

@mew if you’re working on the front line I don’t envy you. Frontline health workers must be under tremendous stress at present and I salute them:upyeah:

  17. Don’t cancel yet agree if we don’t have to ( need to make sure my parents can look after dogs and are ok ) if we don’t have to tell hotel yet we are still up for the trip, but can see it all going to Shite by the end of April - unfortunately

I work in the Capital Projects / Estates side, it's been manic building Isolation units and adapting wards hence my insight. The clinical side seem to be a bit calmer but working at full pace, it has definitely not reached it's peak.
The one thing which is unbelievable is the number of staff stealing hand sanitizer !
