939 SP Well That Didn't Last Long

  1. funny you should say that. it came back from the first service massively overfilled
     
  2. the local specialist is even further away than the dealer and has very mixed reviews. getting it over there is a problem as i work 7am - 6pm. plus i'd have to be paying him whereas the warranty work should be covered free of charge

  4. i don't see that is going to help to determine anything. it's not playing up on tickover and i'm not going to attempt to ride it on one cylinder
     
  5. Can you see the map sensors ? Are the pipes plugged into the throttle inlets .
    You could disconnect the electrical plugs to the maps and put the ecm in default mode just to see how it rides .

My mullti used MAP sensors, a MAF is a much bigger unit and measures all the air flow, they would have to have it before the airbox really (or use twin units before each throttle body) so they tend not to use them on bikes. On cars there is plenty of pipework after the filter to fit one and get smooth air flow, it's a hot wire, vibration kills them via metal fatigue.

    MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure so it will be below the throttle butterfly on each throttle body.

    A swift google brought up this from Ducati.ms, the sensors are remote, connected to each inlet by vacuum pipes and the electrical connectors are close enough to mix up, that would confuse the ECU.

  9. i get you now. just never heard of map sensors.

    to try it with them disconnected, its a tank off to disconnect and tank off again to reconnect. although it may be possible through the side panel

  11. No. To be honest I've had enough of the bike. I've written to Ducati uk as I'm not happy with the service as they've left me hanging with a bike that's unrideable. If it goes on much longer I will contact the finance company asking for a payment break as I can't get to work to earn any money. They usually contact the dealer and throw a few fucks into them.
     
  12. bike has finally been in to ducati. they found an exhaust blanking plug had fallen out of the vertical cylinder and they replaced the electronic throttle on the handlebar. they left it outside for me to pick up as i was running late. but 30 seconds down the road i could tell it was no different.

    now i've read that the low speed fuelling is way out on these bikes and wondered if this could be the problem. but as it ran perfectly before and after the system was fitted right up until around 975mls i'm hoping i can rule it out.

    they actually came and picked the bike up yesterday for another go. fingers crossed they'll get it sorted.
     
  13. Jesus this is becoming a nightmare. Similar scenario to my mates diavel.

    I think the dealers must do a 30 second test ride then give it back. Very poor.

    Are they getting on it right away? Or another 3 week wait?
     
  14. they collected it pm yesterday, if i've heard nothing i'll give them a call at the end of today. i'm a bit worried about the ducati summer shutdown incase they need to order parts

  18. My wife called them for me and at 1115 there were going to road test it and call me back. It's now 3pm. I may be being picky. But I think the customer service standards are slipping.
     
  19. Stories like this just make my blood boil. We pay over the odds for Ducati. Let's be honest , we do and we get piss poor service. I know it's easier to read about poor service where as people don't write about great service but even so .....
    I've just never heard of a Volvo or ford dealer saying yes we'll look at it a fortnight on Thursday.
     
  20. Although, to be fair, a lot of cars are used (and get problems/are serviced) year round. Most dealer service departments are near empty for 6 months of the year and bursting at the seams for the other 6 months. It is rough, but you have to have (some) sympathy for how busy they must be in August....
