Try and drive into a bmw or audi dealer and get them to look and fix anything quickly. Bit sounds like OP being given the runaround
well i got a call from the owner of the dealership at around 4pm. i felt a little better when he told me they'd been working on it most of the day. ducati gave them an alternative upmap which apperently made it worse. i'm told ducati's diagnostic guru is trying to help, but he goes on holiday for a month in two days (pisses me off because i had to wait over two weeks just to get it looked at) he did have the cheek to ask me if it had been playing up after i fitted the exhaust and i hadn't noticed it!! one quick question, he has described the fault as 'hunting' between 2000-4000rpm. but if it's hunting would it be popping when ridden at a constant speed like the timing is out???
Ugh...what a nightmare. The more stories like this I read, the more attractive that Yamaha MT10 is looking :-(
It's now three weeks in the height of summer that it's been unusable and I'm now looking to have to buy a car
Mine fits that description with the termi system. At part throttle I've thought I've heard a misfire at times, and had to change down a gear/raise rpm to check. However, I don't actually have any running issues on mine and after a 700 mile weekend it's been fine. After all they've done, how does it ride now?
i've still not got it back, they are waiting for a slot to connect to italy so they can view the live data. they have agreed its dangerous to ride as it is though
i'm told thats what they called ducati, they agreed with me when i said it's dangerous to ride, but i guess it means nothing as it's not like they have given me a written statement
And again - what ive seen so far - a temporary bike is the least they can do based on the fact its your only mode of transport...
Latest update. I've now got an 848 streetfighter as a loaner so it's calmed me down a little. The problem is now the lazy Italians now responding to technical assistance from my dealer as they are on their summer break. To be frank I'm disgusted by this, especially as they are owned by Audi. From what I understand to bike is trying to run so lean it's un rideable. It's still don't understand how this just suddenly happened at around 950 miles yet it was perfect beforehand. If anything it sounded like it was over fuelled and dumping far to much in on the overrun. #pissedoff
Well, at least you've got something to ride so you can get to work... I'd say if that's the only problem get it set up on a dyno... Pass some of the cost on... Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Get used to waiting for spares in August Sept.... Not nearly as bad as Aprilia.... To get 2 rocker covers for my rsv4 took just under 6 months... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
Its been on a dyno I think from earlier in the thread. Maybe ecu is buggerred. Have they tried another ?
The dealer won't be able to throw new parts at it, Ducati will need diagnostic evidence to be provided by the technician. They will however give the tech a test plan in most cases. Could be a bad O2 sensor in exhaust although they should be able to test them easily enough so I suspect they've done that already.
i'm told they have looked at the live data with the bike on the dyno and everything is within parameter. it's just running too lean and they are not able to adjust fuelling with dealer software. they even covered the airbox entry completely and it still kept running possibly suggesting there is an air intake leakage? but they have had it apart and cannot trace a leak. i wonder how long this has to go on for before ducati offers me a replacement bike.
