I'd rather go home each night....get to do the ride again then.....don't drink so that doesn't bother me....
What’s the crack with camping? I’m tempted to try it out (as an alternative to the IOM TT). Will the site have decent facilities and entertainment?
Basically you sleep in a little canvas or nylon house called a tent, in a kind of oversized sock called a sleeping bag. I say sleeping, you mostly wonder where it all went wrong. Then it rains. If you take your significant other then multiply the agony x 2.
He's got a point....25 years since I camped anywhere....luckily when we go to the tt we stay at my mates house...key goes under a plant pot and he stays at his girlys house...
There's a few of us up here in the north west pondering this one. We're thinking camping but not necessarily at the circuit. Riding in for each day from about 20 miles away is no great hardship. Might be better to camp away from the circuit on a proper campsite rather than the pop up campsite that might be provided at extortionate cost and potentially terrible facilities. We're thinking somewhere with some pubs and takeaways/curry houses for the nights and ride there and back each day for the racing. The only one I've read who's signed up is Dean Harrison, it'll need the names to bring the crowds. It's refreshing to not have to queue for a ferry to see road racing, olivers mount is good but it's the only one on the mainland. I don't see it as an alternative to going to the island though, you just can't beat rolling off that ferry in Douglas...
Sounds like a plan is forming, and I'd be interested in whether we could use as a Ducati get together I quite like the idea of 'the names' not being there, so we can see regular joe road racers (many who do Sarboriugh etc) having a decent crack at being competitive.
It sounded bad did my poorly worded "the names" didn't it What I'm trying to say is commercially it will need to attract the more famous riders to bring the crowds. I think it will take a couple of years to get going BUT if we don't support it, it will never get off the ground. It's early days for all of us but it's being discussed over pints of beer (that's always a good time to plan jollies) and plans/ideas are getting bantered about
In case anyone is wondering the circuit itself is here. Only really visible in satellite view as all but the Eastern side is on MoD roads and not on Google Maps until zoomed in very close. However, can be shown as a cycle route here.
I’m gutted. Had a group of mates about to buy tickets. I hope they get it back on track. It was a real alternative to the IOM for us.
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/spor.../roads-welsh-road-race-set-to-be-called-off-/ I'm hearing race teams have been told.
I hope not! I have bought 4 tickets already. Hope it will get sorted out. Going to Isle of Man is a pain - not enough crossings and hotels taking advantage. A bit of competition is a good thing....
