I’ve come to the UK many times (was married 10 years to an English girl), and living in France, the last reason I’d drive up there would be to ride a bike. Except may be for the TT… But the weather, man… Believe it or not, I like UK for traditional pub Sunday roast and a nice pint of lager with a bunch of mates. That’s good times for me.
Its not the weather so much as the stupid amount of traffic on many UK roads that is spoiling the fun. I was out this morning and even with the V4 Multi's power, there is so much traffic in both directions that overtaking opportunities are scarce. You really need to pick the obscure back roads for biking fun these days.
I don’t remember the traffic being this bad, tbh, but it was 25 years ago and many things may have changed since then.
My 1200 (2014) sucks around 5-5,5 liters per 100km from the tank, depending on the behavior of my right hand. ;-) (Translates to 47 to 42 mpg) Massive improvement in range for me, since I am coming from a Honda VTR1000F (996 cc carburettor v-twin) where I was getting nervous when the tripmeter passed 100km (62 miles). Small tank and very thirsty.
@El Toro, Hi Terry, this post has gone off piste and no longer giving me the answer I was looking for. Time to close it if you would. Thanks, Andy
