Lovely bikes. I was browsing 999's and 996's on the Bay of E last night to make a matching pair with my 1199. I did also look at 1098 but I was looking for something to replace my Honda Hornet 600 for classic track days. The rules are it has to be over 20 years old to be admitted. A 996 would fit in nicely or even an 851
Nice photos of a great pair of bikes. It still brings home just how right the 916 genre of bikes were. Even now they still look very special when sat next to the latest modern stuff.
If is this one https://www.classicbiketrackdays.com/ I believe 998 early 999 should be fine. Seen 2004 VTR SP2 there.... Just give them a call.
Nice bikes there (including the R1) I am done with track days, got fed up with rider briefings, sound testing, tyre warmers. All seemed rushed... Prefer so much more enduro riding/racing. Turn up on the day push the bike out pay the £35 to £60 fee go and ride as much as you want.
must admit I did a road bike only track day last year and it was bloody great, no tyre warmers, no paddock stands, no messing about just turned up with my bike, leathers and sandwiches and totally enjoyed the day.
Thats the one. I did Cadwell Park on the Hornet last September. It seems so long ago now....Very well run and a really good atmosphere. There are still some quick old buggers on old bikes, I can tell you.
Track dependant, but Cadwell looks to be the easiest on noise with a drive by of 105db, I seem to recall.
The 996 looks like a svelte supermodel and the v4 looks like the the same supermodel after retirement, 4 kids and 2 divorces, it looks very bloated when you see the two together. Both in great condition though
