I don't expect objective truth, but I should get it.They are called NEWSpapers,if they want to pontificate they should differentiate fact and opinion by putting them in different typefaces or changing the colour of the font. There used to be a separate column,"The Sun Says/whatever",in each paper if I recall...now the attempt to influence is insidious (?),snide, spiteful remarks and descriptions to unconsciously influence the reader/listener/viewer In fact,I'm so cynical that if I haven't seen it or experienced it myself,I take it with a very large pinch of salt.... But the BBC,which I have no choice in helping to finance,is just as guilty of the same kinds of inferences. My viewpoint is irrelevant :it winds me up to hear any kind of bias or political leaning
Yes they do take into account people who have left. That's what net immigration means. And no it doesn't mean closing the door, merely putting it back on its hinges and controlling who goes through it, in what numbers and why. That's what properly managed immigration is. Talk of fortress Britain and the mass expulsion on Brits abroad is utter tosh.
On a lighter note, here's another thing that probably seemed like a good idea at the time: Moto Guzzi Egretta 250 cc Special For Sale (1939) on Car And Classic UK [C471596]
What would happen to the economy if you weren't allowed to count your house as an asset, have it count towards personal wealth and borrow against it? I know MPs wouldn't have had so much flipping houses to do to build their property portfolios. Would the economy just fall apart?
Thank you for telling me that I am talking tosh. I was referring to my situation as an ex-pat which will probably apply to many other ex-pat Brits too. Without cross border freedom of movement my wife and I would lose our healthcare that is part paid for by the UK and who knows what would happen to the wifes OAP and my RAF pension. Just about all the ex-pats in this area are in a very similar situation as we are. Do you imagine that other countries will allow the UK to restrict who comes in while those countries just keep their doors open to any Brit who wants to move? Immigration is great for the UK, it is the taxes that immigrants pay in the UK that helps support the many dole scroungers who do not want to work. Even I pay tax in the UK to support them too despite living in France and never visiting the UK any more.
