No new ecu or map. It's a full system and the bike runs very well, maybe better than standard though that could be just my imagination inspired by the great sound and the burble on the overrun. I checked with my dealer, Snells, about any possible problems with warranty claims and he there won't be. On the recent EMM in The Picos de Europe round all manner of roads, many of which required extended use of second and third gear, the dash showed nearly 52 mpg. On Autoroutes cruising at 130 kph it dropped to the mid 40s. In my opinion there's no real justification for an aftermarket remap, unless it is to scratch a nagging doubt that maybe you don't have peak efficiency.
All the other after market exhausts give all the above, but IMO, look better than the long square butt ugly Termi, and I get what you're saying about the price of the Multi. If there was another bike as good for 5000 less, I'd get one. I'm not a Ducati loyalist, I just like the Multi and don't think there is another bike that does what it does. So yes, I could have spent less on a bike, but I like the bike, this does not mean I am gonna be totally mugged off and spend over 2x the usual cost for a, lets be honest here, quite small piece of metal, a cheap air filter and an upmap. The arrow system IMO, looks much much better, sounds as good, and costs near one third ?? But like they say.....There's one born every minute !!!
The one thing I love about Ducati more than any other manufacturer is their passion for motorcycles. There aren't many motorcycles you can buy right now where you can ditch the Euro 3 (and now 4) fuelling/exhaust and replace with 'genuine/approved' fuelling/exhaust. But you still can with DUCATI Ducati will sell you the ability to make the motorcycle behave as it was always intended, and with the latest euro 4 control, that means a lot. So buy the full system (with up-map) and never look back.
Is that why when they do the the up map the 02 sensors get knocked out? that came to me from a ducati tech! awaiting the deluge of you're wrong! the up map is a shit map, the throttle is snachy and the comes in with a bang so it feels awesome, anyone here old enough to have owned or have owned an early 90's CR500? you get the idea.
Termi's look and sound great but rather than pay for the new ECU or get a generic map from ducati get it remapped by a reputable Dyno . You'll not get as good results from the "up map" or "racing ECU" as you will from sticking it on a Dyno and having it remapped by someone that knows what they're doing
Try and get your bike into 1 of the 3 capable mappers in the country, 1 never picks the phone up, good signe? maybe not when you have a problem, and the other 2 are booked solid for months, good signe!!
Their passion for bikes is to sell you an 1800 pound piece of short metal to get it as it should have been? And that doesn't strike you as a bit of a rip off then?
This debate could run and run, the simple fact is, if you wanna spend 1800 quid for a pipe, or you want to spend less, at least there are choices.
I had an MTS 2012 Sport S in Black, as soon as it was run in I ditched the STD exhaust for the Full Termi System. Sounds amazing, Looks Mega and you should see 200 or so miles from a full tank in Sport Mode. Ok the downside is the cost of it, but you only live once. You'll kick yourself if you don't and you can always sell it privately to re-coup some of the cost later down the line too. If I were considering another MTS and the main mod is the Termi System. It's just my opinion, but the STD Exhaust is just crap.!.
That seems tasty for 500 quid, but that only leaves 1300 for a remap and air filter ? Will that be enough?
It does look a bit wank though doesn't it not that the termi is much better from a quality perspective mind
40mpg imho that seems terrible. My hypermotard return 55mpg+ hacking through holland and Belgium at or just over 130kph, I thought the multi would be so much better
The hypermotard is a smaller engine, and he says mid 40s, so there's not much in it. I would expect better mpg from the hyper due to engine size alone. Also, the multi is heavier, so why so shocked?
