Recently binged S1&2 of Slow Horses on Apple, enjoying that. Not enough content on Apple to warrant subscribing but free months here and there makes it ideal for popping in, binge stuff and leave. Just taken out the offer of Paramount+ for £35 for the year so watched TG Maverick again. Probably try some series on there, I hear Yellowstone is good.
Likely to have been mentioned (many times) on this thread but ive only just caught up on the Alpinist, absolutely superb. Legs, jelly and all that. Climbing with no gloves too haha imagine how many times we've all complained about having cold hands on a bike Now onto 100 ft wave series on HBO/Sky , which seems to be the same kind of loons but less drugs (sadly).
It’s tagged as homoerotoc but there isn’t actually any homo sex in it… the lead actor is fantastic, in fact the acting imo is very good. Mrs did like it
One Life. A story that Mrs GG and I had no knowledge of. Thoroughly enjoyed it and we would recommend it, just a shame that the cinema seemed to have a lot of pollen in the aircon…
If you get chance read ‘Touching the Void’ by Joe Simpson, the films good but as ever the books has a lot more to say than a film could convey.
Twenty Feet from Stardom. An Oscar winning documentary on backing singers, recommended for anyone who likes music. Available on Amazon Prime. In a similar vein, if you get a chance to see Standing in the Shadows of Motown, take it. It tells the story of the Funk Brothers, Motown’s studio band, who played on more No. 1’s than Elvis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones combined but received no credit for their work.
Agree - and sorted the author for you I recommend his other books if you haven't read them; less about climbing per se - more about his psychology...
Thank you, it’s been a while and my memory isn’t what it once was. I read all of his books when I took up climbing 30 odd years ago. I believe they’re all up in the loft. Mate of mine met him at a a works do where JOE was the speaker, a very down to earth and humble person he said. For some reason I was thinking of the cyclist which is better than mistaking him for Homer….. I’ve corrected it now so I haven’t a clue what you’re on about.
