This itv drama thing. Crime. Typically modern tv, it’s taken a good subject (trans and hooker murders and related) and ‘worked’ it by having everyone who isn’t ’say I’m a woman and I’m a full woman’ as a over the top, rude, obnoxious hater. When most dgaf really about what people want to do in their own world and time. Shame: cast is decent and could have been good
Thought this benefited from being shot in France. Plenty of old Chateaus to film in that just lend themselves very well to the whole theme of the show. Waiting for the 2nd half of this season airing later this year. And Norman Reedus has his own biker show too!
Not watching but listening, Joe Rogan podcast with Jordan Peterson. Having watched quite a lot of Rogan on YT in short pieces, it’s so intriguing that I’m an hour in and Rogan has barely said anything, where normally he’s full of questions and opinion. Peterson is so engaging, if not a little over the hyperbole and name calling line occasionally, but the debate they have about trans and psychological research over decades and the contagion in play now and how it’s been in play lots of times over the last 300 years is fascinating
Yolo, Chinese language, teen, boxing type thing. Well, worth a watch, if just for the transformation the lead actress achieved.
'Ripley' on Netflix, shot in monochrome and somehow seems more grown up than 'the talented Mr. Ripley'...very good
Watched all 5 series of Love/Hate on ITVX this week, some will remember the series from 2011 - 2014 about drug gangs in Dublin, sex, bad language and violence….brilliant.
Very odd film last night called Tuesday. The angel of death is a parrot...apparently. Well worth a watch.
Went to see Alien Romulus today. Doubt they could ever make one to match Alien or Aliens but well worth a watch all the same.
I think they lost their way a bit from Alien3 onwards, i remember seeing Alien at the cinema when first released and IMO nothing has matched it for bleak sci-fi horror since, Aliens came close though...and all my mates slated Promethius but i quite liked it, looking forward to seeing Romulus.
We’ve been watching a few shows on Apple TV this week, as I’ve got a subscription. Sugar, starring Colin Farrell was very good, he plays a 60’s style private detective, driving around in a 60’s Corvette. Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn is also very good, he plays a Miami detective, trying to solve a case.
Also started watching a gentleman in Moscow, slow but entertaining, and bad monkey on apple, Vince Vaughn being himself but nice fairly lighthearted comedy thriller akin to death in paradise or Miami vice. Enjoying them both
A man in full on Netflix. Jeff Bridges in one of his finest roles. Very enjoyable and highly recommended
Enzo Ferrari, from the top drawer with Michael Mann as the director pushing it in the right direction, as for the main actor Adam Driver who would've thought he's an American.
