I've had both for years. Both (well... all of them actually...) get used. I sent Dainese an email a week ago, asking them to make a two piece that is cut like a one-piece. Needless to say, they haven't replied. I think I wrote to them with another idea a few years ago - didn't get an answer to that either. Pity. That's not great relationship marketing and my idea - which I've given them for free - is a good one. You want the comfort and the movement on the bike of the one-piece with the ability to remove the jacket when you arrive so you don't boil in the bag stumping around visiting castles or shopping or whatever it is. Also, the Fluid suit I have takes the Bap back-protector, but the more recent Fluid suit doesn't, so you have to drag a separate back protector around with you when you're touring. That's a drag. If you're not touring, you might as well be wearing the one-piece. Of course, if you know of a more recent Dainese 2 piece suit, cut like a one-piece and which takes a back-protector in the lining, let me know. I may add to my collection.
Hahaha! I empathise with you! I dropped the retaining bolt after I removed it from my right mirror a couple of weeks ago - I heard it drop, onto the fairing somewhere and roll, but could I find it?! (you can probably guess the answer to that one). Searched under the bike and prodded with a wire coat hanger all around the clocks and under the headlight cowlings. Searched under the bike again, just incase it had fallen through...Anyway, ended up taking the cockpit fairing off and the air intake bits and bobs and finally the right fairing. Searched everywhere! prodded and probed and lit torches. Searched under the bike again...Numerous cups of tea and scratchings of head later, I had to admit defeat and put everything back together (there's another long and probably tedious story here, regarding the joys of reassembling a carbon fairing on a 998s that you've only just bought and so are unfamiliar with it's little ideosynchrasies - Christ only knows why they decided to make the bloody belly pan an extra piece requiring yet more bloody Dzus - and do you think they fit primley and properly after 11 years and eighteen thousand miles later?!) then after searching everywhere, i finally did a search on Fleababy and found a new set of mirror bolts from the States; paid for them and waited for them to arrive; they turned up just before the weekend, so Saturday I promptly started to put the mirror back on, only to find the bolts from the US are slightly shorter than the originals. Deep joy. just as I was beginning to query my reason for living and not ending it all there, i looked down for no reason....and what did I immediately see by my foot?....sometimes I hate myself....hahahaha!
Fitted it tonight. It took about an hour and a half to fit and I don't think I've done too bad a job of it. To be fair it seems pretty solid, well more solid than the standard fitting. I have not used the larger bracket shown in the image previously but used the smaller one on it's own. Slightly smaller plate, 8 x 6" I think it is and it looks okay apart from needing a couple of yellow plastic reg bolts. The thing I did like was no cutting of wires, it just uses the existing plugs. Sorry about quality of pic. Maybe a set of these next.
Some more fairing fastener screws from CTMoto to replace the bastard ones that keep falling off no matter how tight you tighten em. I must be keeping CTMoto in business. I loathe this stupid fastening technique. Thus I may have to look into Dzus for my 1198. The Dzus on my 916 have never in my ownership rattled free and buggered off.
I got R&G engine case protector & water pump protector from " Abbmat". Well packed and its all good, cheers mate.
Just bought and fitted Electraeon side stand bypass wiring for a 748/ 9**. Once fitted allows you to start and idle whilst on the side stand. Essential for a hassle free warm up prior to riding if paddock stand is not available or you dont fancy sitting on your bike while it warms up. Get it on fleabay, comes from the US in about a week and costs a steep $50 (£35) but will hopefully help save wear and tear on rockers. Simple to fit, 10 minute job, instructions are ok but illustrations are crap.
took my hyper for a spin down to GTs in Plymouth and bought some service bits for my 996 which im going to service in the winter, shame I don't ride the hyper more, its a great bike but my hearts with my 996 which is just awesome, had loads of new sports bikes but something special about this bike, got it all
Performance seat turned up for my 1100evo hyper today, along with some R&G protection goodness. Still waiting on decat pipe, foldy mirrors and Integrated rear light/indicator set.....weighing up pulling the trigger on a full sc project twin exit titanium system as ive only got a standard system and termi end pipe.... Hyper is the new toy at the moment (rsv4 in the garage) which is good in a way as when that comes out its more of a licence looser...the hyper has lovely low end grunt.
Got around to fitting this new spring purchased from Andy ( Android 853 ) while waiting for the new rectifier coming. And when it arrived the reg/rec was fitted. Steve
Fitted a smaller 8x6 numberplate, looked at it, not sure, looked at it again decided it looked chav, re-fitted the original 9x7
Some more fecking screws. This time all the screws, heat washers and collared washers for the heat shield. If it wasnt carbon i'd weld the fucking thing on.
Oh yeah. Fitted decat tonight. Sounds a little throatier now. Got the foldy mirrors as well from a guy in the states.... No time to fit those yet though. Working all weekend so they'll ha e to wait.... Boo. Just the integrated light to go for this batch of goodies.
