What did you just buy for your bike?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by stuzinho, Apr 12, 2012.

  1. Bidmate, It's saved my forgetful bacon many times.

  2. Ive sold a few of them MS Production carbon airboxes.Prices must have dropped as I used to get between £250 -£300 for em secondhand on ebay. Then again as you don't see so many for sale and getting pretty rare you might find you have to pay more. Also sold a few pairs of Ducati Performance carbon airtubes for £300 -£350.They seem to go for top prices even though CM Composit are again much better quality.

Bootsman the older PVR carbon airboxes are better quality and came fitted as standard on 916/996SPS and don't seem to fetch so much on fleabay.

The one you really want is the EVR carbon large capacity version.Gives bottom end and mid range grunt a boost and sounds so much better than anything else on the market.Best quality of em all by a mile.

  3. Yes Ive also been chasing the EVR too. :) But they are very steep new. Ive already a set of DP airtubes on my bike and would like to pair them to a decent airbox. However i am a tight fisted scottish bastard and will not pay excessive amounts of cash if I can help it. I will keep my eye out on the PVR, never knew they were the make of the standard box. I dont want a cheap wet lay airbox.

They are around the 2-300 quid mark usually. Its just the odd one that comes up cheap. Thats what I keep my eye out for. I have to hunt for bargains. :)

  4. I'm right in thinking that the airbox adds a certain amount of stiffness to the chassis or am i as usual talking bollox?

  5. Arrggh the PVR Modena carbon box might not suit what you are after then as they a twill carbon pattern not like the DP carbon airtubes.

Yeah those EVR's are big bucks but at least the 748-996 ones are the cheapest of there stuff.999 and 1098 EVR is a lot more.

Yes they also make the chassis more rigid.Especialy the EVR.I noticed a big difference when I swapped the PVR Modena carbon one to the improved EVR carbon design.Dig deep as the sound the bike makes with EVR can only be described as' holy fuck'.

  6. Fuck it. Me want. Theyre $1,000+

I noted an drop in the induction roar when I shoved a JHP over the trumper air filter on my 916. Induction roar is intoxicating.

Wait a minute? I just remembered I shoved BMC's before I bought the 1198 and havent test ridden her yet. Shes been SORN due to hassle getting her insured on one policy with 1198. Happy days!

  7. That's the spirit.

Nothing that is great quality for dukes is cheap. However ive spent a lot more than that on some of the stuff fitted to my 916SPS.Go for it and tell the missus Christmas is cancelled and you will be eating spam instead of turkey this yr lol.

If it makes you feel better just think of the £100's you are saving on fuel during the dukes winter lay off.

    Carbon Fiber Airboxes and Components

Oh and try and buy direct from EVR via there website.A mate of mine purchased one via UK dealer and im sure he paid well over £800 instead of £600.Rip off Britain eh.I managed to pick one up on ebay for a bargain.Well £200 less than website price but not exactly a bargain but then we are talking EVR here.

Note you have to remove the throttle bodies as they fit inside the EVR Carbon airbox.Took me about ten mins to do max.Its fooking massive and the sound.Hmm nothing comes close.Much deeper sound and makes the fucker growl and I mean GROWL.

  8. Not for the bike, but for me. A Mick Doohan TT Arai.

I have a soft spot for Arai's and have a few (A couple not shown here including a Schwantz) that will eventually be on display in a man cave (I have a GP legends thing going on in my head), I just need to get said man cave

  15. Second hand tank for my D16 which I have had enlarged so that I can get a decent fuel range :)

No more petrol stops every 60 miles or carrying 2l emergency fuel cans in my rucksack across Europe!

  16. How much extra fuel capacity does that give you Dave?

Do you have any pictures of it on the bike yet?

  17. OEM ZADI Quickshifter for my 1198. Its a 2009 model registered new in 2011. But now it has DTC and QS as all 2011 1198 do.

TBH Ive never used a QS before.

Now I am after the bigger fuel tank for the 1198 too as I concur with Dave. Even though I get 100m to a tank (ish)

  18. Life must be awful having to worry about the petrol range on your d16!

    #jealousasf**k :)

  19. I don't know yet - haven't fitted it to my bike. I'll post an update as soon as I have.
