What Fuel Are You Using Now Esso Has Ethanol In Its E5

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Festa, Mar 19, 2024.

  1. I just brim the tank, the tiny amount of air remaining = negligible moisture

  2. Oh.... and keep my garage above 10 degrees C to minimise condensation.

  3. I use exactly this.. Tend to buy it in small batches and it's not expensive really for the sense of protection it gives. I actually put it into every tank. Better to be safe than sorry. 1 Bottle last about a season or so

  4. I stopped using Esso fuel many years ago, when they were asking us to put endangered species in to the tank....... Esso.jpeg

  5. The information below, and the links may be of interest.

How much ethanol is in Esso's E5 fuel?
    https://www.esso.co.uk/en-gb/faqs
"We currently supply an ethanol-free Synergy Supreme * 99 unleaded in some parts of the UK. From September 2023 our Synergy Supreme * 99 will transition to contain up to a maximum of 5% ethanol at all Esso pumps irrespective of which part of the country they are located. The labelling at our pumps will remain as E5 for Synergy Supreme * 99 unleaded."

    https://www.esso.co.uk/en-gb/fuels
    "Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99
New Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 petrol triple cleans and protects your engine to help give you more miles per tank– and includes more molecules engineered to reduce friction in your engine and help moving parts work more efficiently. Esso Supreme+ 99 also has a higher octane than our Esso Unleaded 95 product and contains up to a maximum of 5% ethanol"
"What is the difference between E10 and E5 petrol?
E5 petrol contains up to 5% ethanol by volume and E10 contains up to 10% by volume. All Esso's Synergy fuels contain additives to help clean, protect and enhance your car's engine, however Esso's Synergy Supreme+ 99 E5 fuel contains a double dose of additive. Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 contains up to 5% ethanol."

So they still state: "contains up to a maximum of 5% ethanol" and "contains up to 5% ethanol", without stating the actual percentage of ethanol.

For what it's worth, I'm still using it where it's available, and use an additive when the bike is not in regular use.

    Hope it helps.
