I had a friend like that. I used to get up when she picked up her phone and thank her for a lovely time. Not sure whether she ever twigged. I think she must have as occasionally she would put her phone away but she soon had it out again. No time for that sort of thing, myself. Call me old-fashioned (not you finderman, you still call me "Sir").
I don't agree about restaurants enforcing a no phones rule. I mean, what if you cannot get out of attending a works do?
